Tuesday

Good day all.

I am so tired today.  Brian had a sleep study last night.  The center was located 30 minutes away.  So with the drive, I ended up staying up late and waking up early.  I feel tired and stressed.

Good morning, all. Wish I could just stay home today, but I really need to go to the office. SOOO much to do before taking off tomorrow.

Wow, what an excited bunch today!  wink

Our 5-yr-old twins start kindergarten tomorrow.  They are our only kids, so we are first-timers for this, plus our son is a bit behind developmentally and has food allergies, so we're extra extra nervous.  But the kids are so excited they're going bonkers!  biggrin

Good luck Murs! What food allergies does he have? Schools are doing pretty good with that stuff now.

He's allergic to egg, peanut, peas, and chicken.  We conducted a food challenge on the peanut a couple of months ago to gauge the severity of the allergy, and he got to the equivalent of about a peanut before he started breaking out and getting a little lethargic, so that at least gave us a little comfort that he could be in the same room with peanut products and be ok.  He's never had an anaphylatic reaction fortunately, it's always been skin or gastro, but we carry the epi-pen everywhere we go of course.

He's also allergic to dogs, cats, maple, oak, some grasses.....  He takes Singulair and a steroid inhaler regularly.  Oh yeah, he also has asthma and ezcema, which go hand-in-hand with allergies oftentimes, but he at least seems to have largely outgrown the ezcema....

Maybe more info than you were expecting, but I know you have mutliple food allergies so I knew you could identify!

Poor kid, but yep, I can relate. I had eczema until I hit puberty too. Is he going to eat school lunches, or do you plan to pack his lunch? Luckily, it sounds like those should be pretty easy to avoid, they're used to working around eggs and peanut allergies. The only one that might be hard is if they use chicken broth in anything.

I'm here, finally!  Isaac had a dental appointment this morning, so I'm late getting around.  I hate coming into work late because everyone seems to be in a spastic panic --  THE SKY IS FALLING!  THE SKY IS FALLING!

MZ is right, the public schools are much better considering children with food alergies.  Bless his heart (and yours too!).

Hope the twins have a fantastic first day of Kindergarten, Murs!

Isn't sleep funny? Well, lack of sleep anyway.

Usually I get about 7-8 hours sleep, but last night I got just less than 6 hours. I know there's plenty of people who function fine on a daily basis with only 6 hours of sleep. I used to.

Sometimes I still have rough nights where I only get about 6 hours of sleep, and I do okay on those days. But today I'm dragging.

But I think I've figured out the difference. Normally when I'm lacking sleep, I either didn't get to sleep until late, or I woke up in the middle of the night. I still get up around 6:30, about the time the sun's coming up. But today I had to get up at 5:30, when it was still dark out and the stoplight on the corner was still flashing red.

So I think it's not only how much sleep a person gets in a night, but when they get that sleep.
