Zoinks! A Bob Dylan Christmas album?!? SERIOUSLY!?!

Not an artist I would have guessed would do a Christmas album.

Bob Dylan has made his latest unpredictable career move: Rolling Stone has learned that Bob Dylan will release a Christmas album October 13th. Entitled Christmas in the Heart, the collection will feature holiday standards including Must Be Santa, Little Drummer Boy, Winter Wonderland and Here Comes Santa Claus. All U.S. royalties from the collection will benefit the charity Feeding America, the nations leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Other proceeds from the disc will benefit hunger relief organizations around the world.

That sounds like something that would be a parody, like a Saturday Night Live skit or something.

I feel like I'm living in an SNL skit...

Bob Dylan: Voice Behind Your Next GPS System?

Bob Dylan, the musical voice of his generation, could the voice of your next car navigation system or portable navigation device (PND). He said so himself this week on his BBC satellite radio program, that he's negotiating with two automakers to be the voice behind their navigation systems. Take that, James Earl Jones. Dylan certainly has enough lyrics to his credit that, with several decades hindsight, foreshadowed the GPS revolution: "how many roads," "no direction home," and "there must be someway out of here." (Be sure to post any we forgot below in feedback.)

Worried that Bob Dylan's sellling out? Not to worry. If it happened, it was long before the navigation opportunity. As the Washington Post noted, he's done commercial work for Cadillac, Pepsi, and Victoria's Secret. In a 2007 commercial for the Cadillac Escalade, Dylan asked, "What's life without the occasional detour?"

As much as I like Bob Dylan, he's not exactly known for his vocal skills, per se... Unique vocal style maybe.

That's great that it's all going to charity. Bob Dylan seems like a good egg. smile.gif

The Christmas album would be cool. The GPS thing might be even better though. I love James Earl Jones's voice, but having it boom driving directions at me might be a bit imposing.
