At the 500 there will be a fly over by a B2 bomber. I've been attending and working the race for the better part of 15 years but I always get goose bumps when the fly over occurs. It's a great reminder of the strength of this nation. Humbling but proud at the same time. It also makes me realize that there could be hundreds of bombers and planes in our skies, if not for those who serve and protect us.
A very heartfelt thank you to those who serve and a prayer for those whom made the ultimate sacrifice.
Good post, StevieB. We're a military family so we always keep the reason for the holiday in mind. Jump over to the "Website of the Day" thread, I found a good link about the flag.
I am so grateful to see this support. I always have a flag flying, but for Memorial and other holidays I put the red white and blue banners up and put the smaller stick flags along the front of my property. Last year I put a flag in each of the corners of my neighbors yards, so the cul de sac looked pretty cool. My house is at the top. The only neighbor that didn't complain on me was the Secret Service Agent and his wife. He is a full time agent to Gerald Ford and from Wisconsin. I was so disgusted with my other neighbors.
