Thanks for asking!  Graduation night was both a celebration and very sad occassion.  My daughter was very matter of fact about the whole thing.  She was ready to graduate.  We had both sides of the family in, 14 people in all.  They all enjoyed it.  I was surprised there wasn't more of feeling of accomplishment for me.  It's hard to explain but I thought I would have sense of "WOW" or something.  Anyway, her mother and I are very proud of her.  She graduated with honors.  I think we were glad to get this year over.  We were very involved with the band and winter guard all year.  It was a relief to have it all behind us.  She's going to IUPUI and studying to become a dental hygienist.

No suit for me.  Just kahki's and a nice shirt.  We are having the party this Saturday.  We moved it to this weekend because of the 500 parade and race.  It's just too much to try and get in.

It was a nice ceremony but some what subdued.  One of her classmates overdosed and died that morning.  I guess it was common knowledge he was a user.  When his name was called the entire class stood and applauded while his best friend received his diploma.  After accepting it he turned to the class and held it over his head for a few seconds.  It was a very touching moment.  It's just a shame.  A waste too.  I guess he was a talented guitarist and played in a local band that had begun getting good reviews.  I don't understand why kids are drawn to drugs.  I've just been lucky my kids have steered clear of the drug scene. 

I remember hearing a song somewhere where they sing "Iupui" instead of "Louie, Louie." 

I think kids are trying to find a way to rebel, and drugs are just one of the many ways.  I personally have never been involved with drugs, but I know people who were.  My husband had an addiction that he got over before I met him, but he started doing drugs when he got back from the Persian Gulf during Desert Storm as a way to escape life.  He has a friend who opened an all ages cafe where musicians could play without alcohol, and it was this friend and cafe that helped my husband get over his addiction.  This cafe also attracted a lot of troubled teens, a lot who did drugs, and a lot who overcame their addictions while they were there.  Most of them just needed love, support, and a lot of acceptance.
