The "Who The Heck Are We" Thread. (aka: "Get to know us!")

Alright, I'll start off the second edition of this thread.

I'm Jeremy Riggs (not my real name but this is still my real hair (for now)).

Back in 2003 I started off this little station and soon after (early 2004) brought JD in to handle the weekend shift.  smile.gif

I used to own a commercial cleaning business but sold that a few years ago.  Lived in North Carolina for part of last year but now I'm back in good ol' Wisconsin, the land of cheese and beer.  Now I'm working a pretty crappy job on third shift at a local college, hoping to eventually be promoted to a manager of the people with crappy jobs.

Hobbies include music (obviously), watching small market baseball teams that have the odds unfairly stacked against them as they struggle to achieve mediocrity, and stamp collecting.  (I made that last one up).

My life's goal is to use subliminal messages distributed through the station to build an army loyal to my desire of world domination.  So far though we've only been able to reach about 150 people in total.

Let's see, what else.

Oh yeah, I tend to be serious pretty much all the time.

Next?

OK, my name is Lady Strange (and that IS my real name)
I am a rock chick, and music is my life.
I also love bunnies, pictures, long hair, and other forms of art.

... Yep, that's pretty much me in a nutshell!

I'm "WebGuy" but most everyone around here just calls me "Web".

I've been a member here quite some time and I have the wrinkles and ulcers to prove it.

I'm 43 (at this time) live in Nebraska and I'm self employed doing a little woodworking and a lotta web hosting. Some have even hinted that they think I'm a bit of a geek.

I'm a Christian guy with strong convictions. When I mention something about my church, my faith, or my beliefs, its not meant to offend, its just part of who I am and how I see things through my Christian world view.

My hobbies include bass playing, kite flying, ham radio, and throwing JR (Jeremy) under the bus. Of those hobbies, I'm better at one of them than all the others.

Edit to add: Next?

My real name is Michelle Hartz. It's all over the internet from past jobs, so I don't mind sharing it. Oh, and MzHartz is pronounced "Mizz" not "Em Zee." evileye

When did I start listening?  2005 maybe?  I listened for a couple months before I joined the forum.  I liked the request list, and there was something on the main page that caught my eye on the forum, so I joined.

I'm currently a graphic designer, which is my dream job.  But I'm never satisfied, so I'm going back to school part time next fall for Biology, and eventually Marine Biology.

I live in southern Indiana, in Bloomington, which is the home of Indiana University.  I hope to someday move to a coast.

When not chatting on the forum, I'm probably playing video games or board games, painting, crafting, writing, or doing tai chi.  I've written 2 books and plan to self publish one in the next couple months.  I like watching drag racing live, but prefer to watch football and soccer on tv.  But I refuse to get cable and the only public tv station I can get in is PBS, so I don't watch a whole lot of tv.

I'm married to a long haired hippy.  No kids and never want kids.  Instead, I have two cats (Sami, a girl, and Jack, a big male that likes jazz), a turtle (Floyd), and 2 fish.

I tend to like more rock and roll, although I also like jazz and some pop.  I'm not a fan of country music.

OK, what did I forget?

I'm Ghost, but some here on the forum call me by my real name which is Sandy.  There are also a few that refer to me as "the flamin' liberal". biggrin

I was recruited to this gang by JR (Jeremy) about 4 years ago.  He found me over on Myspace back in the day when he was actively looking for new members to join FFR.  He told me about this cool internet radio station and invited me to drop by and listen.  Been here ever since. smile

I live in Saginaw, MI and work for our school district.  Currently, I'm on an unpaid leave of absence and may not be returning to my job.  Doesn't really break my heart any if I can't go back.

I'm an active video gamer; the Halo series on Xbox and Guitar Hero/Rock Band on the Playstation2 are my favorite games. biggrin When not gaming, I'm an avid reader.  I don't watch much tv but I do enjoy movies.  I'm not a fan of sports but I do enjoy watching college football.  Nebraska and MI State are my teams.

A piece of paper says I'm married.  I have two daughters; 20 & 17.  They keep me young.

I have a wide range of taste in music; I'll listen to anything from Classical right on through to Rap/Hip Hop, but I absolutely hate Country music!  My favorite genre is Metal/Hard Rock.  I'm a huge fan of JD's Sunday night show, Underground 80s!! biggrin

And like Web, I enjoy throwing JR under the bus.  Problem is, it's usually under the special bus that I ride every day. laughing.gif

I'm Mad Mema, real name Michele. I live in the KC area and work for Ericsson Services, Inc. doing managed network services for Sprint... worked for them for 18 years.

Found my way to FFR through my best friend, Pambo, back when we were working Hurricane Katrina network recovery. We had plenty of time to make requests while we were working those 13-20 hour days. smile.gif As and added bonus I have made some wonderful friends.

I have a "wuzband" who lives in my guest room, 2 step-sons... both married, and 4 grandkids... hence the "Mema". My constant companion is my cat Eddie.

I enjoy most kinds of music, but am not a huge fan of rap or techno. For fun I like to watch NFL football (Yeah, I know the Chiefs suck... but still), read, ride my motorcycle, and sometimes I like to cook. Always enjoy hanging out with my kids and grandkids.

Politically speaking, I tend to have Republican leanings, but my interest are more toward protecting THIS country and preserving our rights and freedoms as much as possible. Guess I would best be classified as the dreaded "moderate".

Squonk here. (there and everywhere!)
When I first joined, I was Bunnyman. When all the members asked me to intro myself, I decided to look up references to the Bunnyman. It turns out, the Bunnyman is not a good thing. I was also new to socializing electronically, and really didn't trust others on social areas. JD is a co-worker of mine. Well, he tries anyway (kidding!) and because of his trust of all the steady members and Riggs, I came back as Squonk. A character in a 1976 Genesis song from Trick of the Tail.
Cars, Tunes, Doin' Art stuff, learning new things. That's what I dig. People that are stuck in their old ways because they are too lazy too change bug me. Now, if they are stuck in their old ways because it's they're "core" being that can not change... cool.
I'm Cancer. 1961.

I'm Disco Strangler (Vee), and I'm a FFR adict. I find it hard to function without FFR. I
I tune in from the 918 -- Tulsa OK vicinity. I'm originally from Santa Fe NM, but have called OK home for over 20 years.
I pretty much like all forms of music -- but consider rap / hip-hop and even some country a form of torture.
I'm 43, married, have a daughter 24, a son 17 and another son 6. Oh, and a grandbaby on the way. I'm looking forward to "paybacks".

I like to cook and feed people.

Hi.  My name is Dylan.

I am a lifelong Wisconsinite (America's Tax Hell and home of the Green Bay Packers) and long time friend of JR's.  Through his prompting I joined the Forum about a year after its inception.  Some people have come and gone and others have stayed.  I miss many of those who no longer frequently stop by.  The people that check in on a daily, regular or occasional basis are people I look forward to "seeing" daily.

We are like an electronic family.  We may not always agree but we genuinely like each other and try and appreciate each others differences as well as common views and interests.

I am with the Sheriff's Department assigned to the jail.  Most deputy's usually are assigned to the jail for 5 years or so before being assigned to patrol division.  As of this writing my tenure is a few months shy of 3 years.

That is what I do to afford luxury's like food and shelter.  I am also a singer/songwriter and member of a band that performs those songs I have written.  Our influences are  The Beatles, Electric Light Orchestra, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Jim Croce, Little River Band...if you noticed a 70's trend you are right.  That is kind of our core sound.

You can usually draw me into a conversation about politics, sports, music, movies and matters of faith.  I also enjoy reading.  That is pretty much the rough outline that is my life.  But enough about me.  What do you think about me!  biggrin.gif
