Not a bad day!

Just thought I'd post a couple shots from the lakefront taken an hour or two ago.

It's a truly beautiful day here in southeastern Wisconsin. FOR ONCE!

If you're out on it there can certainly be waves.

But I don't think it ever gets that crazy unless it's a really, really windy day.

Plus, most of the accessible lakefront near here has a breakwater around it, so even when it's bad the waves generally don't get to shore.

I had to walked 5 blocks up towards the lake today for a meeting.  Ahh..those pictures just make me want to quit working even more. Sigh...

There's nothing sadder than being 20 floors up on the inside of a building with no window, and the only way I can enjoy the weather is when I visit a boss that has a window in his office.

Bother.

I'm only on the 5th floor but I know what you mean. We have windows but they don't open.(insert stock broker joke here).

It's a good thing our windows don't open. The bosses and our equipment would have been thrown out a long time ago.

At last, something that Chicagoians and Milwaukites can agree on.  Lake Michigan is a beautiful thing.  It can also be very intimidating when viewed at night.  It is DARK out there!

MJ - request "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" if you want to hear what it can be like on the Great Lakes, that was Superior.

Interesting story.  I knew a guy who used to crew a racing yacht that did the Mackinac run.  He said one year Ted Turner entered a boat and crew after he had won the America's Cup.  He and his crew were going to show those "puddle jumpers" how to race.  They didn't even finish.  They were not expecting the chop that comes up on the lakes and many of them got seasick!

I have a joke with some of my friends that I go to lunch with.  On really nice days, we come up with all these excuses on how we couldn't make it back to work and ended up at the beach.

For example:

We were abducted by aliens, and they took us to the beach.

We got in a car crash and had to be rushed to the hospital, but the ambulance took a wrong turn, and took us to the beach.

We all got jobs at [insert fast food restaurant that's currently hiring here], and the training seminar was at the beach.

Our car was hijacked and we were all kidnapped, and the abductor made us go to the beach.

Jeremy I am assuming that that is Lake Michigan? Is it freezing by you? I remember going to North Shore beach growing up. However the water was always freezing. We swam anyway, becasue we did not know better. However, now that I am in SC, the beach water gets up in the 80s and I think how did I ever swim in Lake Michigan!
