NFL Wild Card Weekend

Predictions anyone?

NY Jets at Cincinnati Bengals

I don't know too much about either of these teams.  Just basing my views on Madden 2010 I can say that the Bengals don't particularly impress me.

Just taking a guess here, I'll go with the Bengals for no reason other than home field advantage.

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys

Gonna base my views on this one on nothing more than personal feelings.  While I would like to see Fuzzy enjoy a nice long run by the Eagles I have to admit they're a team I just don't like.

I can never forget 4'th & 26.  I never liked McNabb.  And I HATE that they took on Vick.

Meanwhile my feelings on the Cowboys is that they were the major roadblock for the Packers for years in the playoffs before we finally broke past em' to make it to the Super Bowl in 1996.  I also don't like their owner and for too many years they seemed to be happy to have thugs playing on their team.

So my HOPE is that the Eagles win so eventually the Packers can get revenge and knock em' out deep in the playoffs.

But my prediction is that the Boys will beat em'.

Baltimore Ravens at New England

The Pack played Baltimore this year and I didn't see what was so special about the Ravens.  New England has slipped a lot in two years but still are an elite team.

I think this will be New England all the way.

Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals

As the week goes on three fairly important parts of the Cardinal team are still banged up and at least two of them appear to quite possibly be unlikely to play Sunday.

Besides that I think the Packers have just have this clubs number.  I know AZ will tell you they haven't played them in a situation where they were "trying to win" this year, but they've been embarassed by the Pack twice (once in pre season and once to end the season) and I just don't think they're going to flip the switch and suddenly beat us.

They're a good club, but I say Pack wins.

-------------

So there's my predictions.  Make yours and let's see who does best throughout the playoffs!

Fuzz?  Dylan?  You KNOW you wanna get in on this!

My predictions are more for who I WANT to win as opposed to who I think will win.

Bengals. I don't really follow either of these teams much, but I think the Bengals helmets.

Eagles. I don't like the Cowboys. They've beaten too many of the teams I like.

Ravens. I'm holding a grudge against NE for beating my Colts.

Packers, duh.

Best.  Prediction.  EVER!  biggrin.gif

MZ, are you worried about the Colts having lost momentum the last two weeks, or do you think that won't really matter?

HEY!  Speaking of people coming back to FFR, we need an occasional visit from your fellow Hoosier, Ray.  hmm.gif

Dallas vs Philadelphia - Hate Dallas win a football passion. The Eagles were absolutely pathetic last week. They had the chance to play at home and have an extra week off. Sometime they throw one of those clunker games out there. They didn't look that good the first time the teams met this year. They lost then too. This mess can be traced to two events - the Eagles losing to Oakland and Dallas beating New Orleans. Stupid Eagles. All they had to do was beat Oakland. As much as I want then to win, I fear the will not.

Green Bay vs Arizona - I don't get to see too much of these teams. I am not sure what the Cardinals actually did last week (played vs rested guys). I know the Packers smoked them and did it early. I look to the Packers to take the win.

Baltimore vs New England - I have seen the Ravens some this year but not so much of the Patriots. I am not sure what Baltimore really has as they can look good or just okay. If Brady gets to throwing the ball, the Ravens could be in trouble. But now the Patroits are without one of their top recievers so let's see who can pick up the slack. I am going to call the win for the Partriots.

NY Jets vs Cincinnati - I don't care much for either team. I do get to see some of the Jets games. I watched some of the Sunday night game. They Jets were playing hard to get into the playoffs. They did look like the stronger team. But I don't know which Bengals team will show up when they play this week. I think this game can go either way. The Jets may have the momentum, but the Bengals are at home. I don't know that I have a call here, but I may be leaning a little towards the Jets.

Overall, there are three rematches of last Sunday's games. Let's see which teams learned something and can turn it around.

LOL, I like it!

Nah, I'm not too worried about the Colts' past couple weeks.  They rested people, and I just think they figured, "Why bother?"  I think they'll be back on track for their first playoff game.  I also predict that they'll be losing in the first half until people start giving up on them, and then they'll turn it around entirely by the last quarter and win the game.  They do that a lot.  It makes me mad.

I've been wondering about where Ray got to too.

I agree. There's too much talent on the Colts for the last two games to have any kind of serious carry over effect.

When the games are important I don't doubt they'll rise to the occasion and in my book I'd say they're the favorites to go all the way.

Dallas vs. Philladelphia... I pick Philly. Hate Dallas... can't bring myself to cheer for them. They might be the better team, but it just goes against my grain.

NY Jets vs Cincinnati... As much as I think Chad Ochocinco is a doosh for changing his last name to Ochocinco, I think the Bengals will win this one. They have been playing really well. Not unlike Fuzzy, I don't particularly care about either one of these teams.

Baltimore vs New England... New England. They have played very well this year, as with most years. Brady is a really good QB. Heckuva franchise right now with loads of post season experience.

Green Bay vs Arizona... Green Bay. Arizona looked crappy last week. Warner had loads of issues. I think they will go a long way toward beating themselves, but Green Bay has been performing solidly.

I'm going to go with the Jets over the Bengals.

I would prefer the Eagles to win, but my prediction is a win for the Cowboys.

New England over Baltimore.

And I think Green Bay and AZ could be a close one. With the AZ injuries, I'll go with the Pack.

Oh, I'll be watching the college championship tonight too.

Texas or 'Bama.

Hmmm. I think the Roll Tide will win. My Huskers should have beat Texas for the conference championship but Texas had that lucky field goal in the last 30 seconds.

I hope that the Pack are not overconfident. They are notorious for that. But I think they will win.

Dude, I have played the game for 12 years...and not "Madden" years either.

You would do well to take advantage of my vast, encyclopedia-like football knowledge.

Oh come on.  You haven't played the game in 20 years.  When you were playing they still used leather helmets!

Back when you played they only had three or four plays in the playbook because those stone etchings were too heavy to carry around.

Face it, you went to the Jeremy Riggs school of Football Fate, Momentum and Destiny and you've been riding those coat-tails ever since.  no.gif

Your frame of time reference is dubious at best my nerdy little buddy.

Football games arent won or lost with pithy catch phrases.

They are won with blood, sweat and tears.

When those things are coupled with knowledge and experience...thats when football is at its best.

I had no idea Blood, Sweat & Tears played the game!

No, there is no crying in baseball...Tom Hanks made that line famous in "A league of Their Own"
