I think most if not, all, y'all (talkin' Okie right now no), know that I'm gonna be a grama by Maranda, my eldest.  Although not pleased concering the circumstances, of course, I am excited (now).  And I know we will all do just fine if we work together.

I really thought I would start my collection  --  Vera, Chuck and Dave, you know like in the Beatles song, "When I'm Sixty-Four"  -- 
"Every summer we can rent a cottage on the
Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck and Dave... "

But alas, Maranda has chosen to name her after my parents -- 
Dahlia (pronounced Dah-lee-yah  / NOT Dal-ya) Irene.   Dahlia Irene

My mom doesn't know, it's going to be a suprise...

We're already calling her Dolly.  I don't know though if her nickname will actually be Dolly (like a babydoll) or Dali (like the artist).

See, if she just named her Vera, it wouldn't have to be so complicated... wink

That is a pretty name and a very cool tribute to your mom.  It shows recognition for tradition.

Although the circumstances may not be of your choosing, God chose to bless your life with a granddaughter.  You are gonna rock as a grandma! smile

My sister went uncommon with both of her children. The youngest has the one that is a little more uncommon - Adina Dehlia. (A-dean-a) (Deal-ya)

I love the name Dehlia. I suggested that one too, but she said no. Adiana sounds very "goddess-like"

When we are growing up, we think they are idiots.

When we get older we see they werent so dumb after all.

Looking at them as people, we see them with their strengths and weaknesses and tend to have alot more compassion and affinity for them.

Or at the very least a better understanding.
