I had a conversation with another Forum member not too long ago and I used the expression..."in my wheelhouse".
It is a sports phrase...typically a baseball phrase meaning a pitch that a hitter really likes. The phrase has gravitated into every day lingo to mean something someone really likes.
But that got me thinking about other phrases or idioms. How did they start? Do they mean now what they used to mean?
Different regions have different colloquialisms as well. For example, here in Wisconsin...a water fountain is a bubbler.
Lets share our language and the different colorful phrases. Or just those phrases or words that strike us funny or ones we would like to "why did they name it that?
