Its looking to be a "normal" Saturday around here. I'm backing up my backups and the boy is eating toast and watching the "Speed" channel. Mrs Web had a hard week at work so she took a couple Tylenol PM's last night and she's still snuggled under the covers.
Not much exciting here right now. Hopefully your Saturday is a good one!
I've just been getting caught up on all the drama on the forum this week. What a mess! I'm gonna let that sleeping dog lie though. Maybe it won't rear it's ugly head anymore.
We are snowed in. We had 4 1/2 inches during the day yesterday then I nice coating of ice to top it off. Hopefully will be able to dig out for church tomorrow.
The rest of my Saturday is going to consist of girl time. Movies, games, puzzles and fireplace. We got out the Wii Dance yesterday. FUN FUN FUN!!!!
We got a light snowfall goin' on here in Wisconsin. I just made some waffles and settled in to do a little surfing.
I seem to have the same problem that Dylan has been having with his computer. Mine keeps shutting off, often before it fully boots. Makes me wonder if there's a virus going around that got past my AV protection.
T-Gal, nice to see you stopped by! I hope things are going well for you down in TN!
I've got a busy day today. I already went to the Winter Farmer's Market and 2 grocery stores. And I still haven't gotten one item. Now I've stopped by work to print out some Caps for Cancer flyers. I need to drop those off at the meeting at 2, but I can't stay, because I have a NaNoWriMo meeting at 3. Since I'm the municipal liaison this year, I'm pretty much hosting these events, so I have to be there early. But hey, I'm bringing snacks!
Brian and I talked about doing a date night tonight, just to be alone for a while. We haven't decided what we'll do yet.
JR & Web, having fun beating each other in football!
Hi guys. My husband is out in the cold working on our vehicles today. I feel sorry for him because DANG, it IS cold out there!
Not much on my agenda today. I'm hoping to finish a book I started, and I have another one lined up to read.
JR, if you run a virus scan and it comes up clean, I'd suggest taking the cover off your computer and vacuuming the dust out. A few months ago my computer was doing the same thing...shutting off by itself. I thought it was a virus but it wasn't; turned out it was full of dust inside which was causing it to overheat and shut down before it could do any damage.
Hey Ghost, hope you're having a good weekend so far!
I thought about the dust issue too. Unfortunately it's a laptop and very difficult to really open up without screwing up other stuff. But I may give that a try anyway if this keeps up.
With my desktop computers I try to open em up and vacuum them out at least once a year. This laptop just passed it's one year mark and has never been cleaned out.
Oh, I didn't know it was your laptop. Can you open them up and vacuum them?? If so, I'll have to let my daughter know in about a year she might want to do this with her's or take it in and have it cleaned.
About the virus thing.....besides running my virus software, I also use Combofix every once in a while to make sure nothing has slipped past. My daughter's boyfriend is a computer geek and he suggested that I run it every so often. That picked up some stuff that my virus protection missed and it easily got rid of it.
I finally get a cable modem at home, and now I can listen to FFR at home, but I can;t get the audio stream going! Are we down? Did I miss a notice of station maintenance?
Were you trying to tune in today Murs? The broadcast system is down. No one was tuned in so I thought it would be a good chance to let the computer rest, but if you're planning on tuning in for a bit it's no problem to turn it back on. (plus as an added bonus you know you'd have the request system all to yourself )
Just let me know.
Cowboysfan just posted her first post in the football thread.
Don't turn it on just for me, I just wanted to make sure the problem wasn;t on my end. I am deifinitely psyched though that I can now listen from home! I always tell my wife how good the station is but she's never been able to listen until now! She is as hardcore 80s as I am!
Right, I had dial-up forever, except for one year way back when I worked from home and the company paid for it. That's when I first got into FFR. The local cable company this month offered a great special on their slowest cable modem, which is still 30 times faster than dial-up, so it's good enough for me! Woo hoo!
I must still be missing something. The loudcity window wanted me to install some Active X, so I did, but the window still just displays the Now Playing phrase but no song title. Am I missing something?
Are you using Firefox? Have you tried closing your browser and re-opening it? I seem to recall an issue when I first tried using it that just cleared up upon restarting the browser or something.
I tried restarting IE, but no dice. Even the home page of FFR doesn;t show me a song title in the Now Playing box.
Should I be using Firefox instead? I always use IE at work for FFR and it works fine, but that is IE 7, there whereas here at home I have IE 8. Perhaps that's the problem? Has anyone else reported problems playing FFR with IE 8?
Good day, all. Its a quiet one around here so far. Probably need to do some house cleaning and go to the grocery store... exciting, I know! At least the sun is shining today. That has been increasingly rare.
Murs - for the better internet connection. Hope the audio gets working for you.
Ghost - Hope your car woes get all fixed today. Lacking independent transportation SUCKS!
JR - Best of luck with your computer woes.
Mz - Have fun with your NaNoWriMo gathering.
Cowboyfan - HI!
Web - Hope you are enjoying your day.
TG - Nice to see you around.

Well, this is extremely frustrating. I looked at my firewall, and I think I see traffic when I launch the Loudcity window, and nothing getrs blocked, but still no dice. I tried it with Firefox, and tried launching it from Windows Media, Realplayer, and itunes, but still nothing. HELP!!!!
How does everyone else access the station, via Loudcity?
Ok, I shut down, booted back up, went to LoudCity and still have nothing. No sound.
All I can tell you Murs is that sometimes it does this. I've had it happen during JD's Sunday night shows as well as when I just want to tune into the station on any other day.
Anybody else tuned in right now?? Do you hear music??
It must be a problem with LoudCity. I'm not getting any audio either. Much like Murs said, it finally went from waiting to "Now Playing" but there is no artist/song listing.

Did all the house work I really care to do for this day. Think tonight I am finally going to try out a recipe I have been thinking about trying for a while now... Beef Stuffed Potatoes.
