As we all spike our hair and rip the sleeves off our shirts in honnor of NWW ! I thought it would be interesting to discuss what actual fashion statements we've pulled off during our time.
I was a huge fan of thin lapeled jackets, small collars, thin ties, pleated pants, and the roach-kicker shoes. At one time my hair was short all around, California swoop in the front, and a tail down the back.
I had really long hair, but I didn't do the high hair thing as much as I poofed out the sides, Farah Fawcett style. I also remember wearing a lot of neon for a while there.
What's better is my dad's fashion then. He had long hair and a perm! I love looking at those old pictures!
Now that you mention it Star, I loved the tapered leg pants that had the zipper at the ankle. I also did the jelly sandals. I lived in those things! Actually, I wish I could find a pair now, I have to wear closed toe shoes at the spa, and those would be perfect for summer!
I did the polo shirt under an ultra short sleeve shirt, rolled the polo sleeves, and flipped up the collar. Never did the scrunched up pants, that wasn't "cool" in an Italian neighborhood. And yes, for a while I had a Members Only jacket. Darn thing was comfortable!
I am trying a new fashion trend. Everywhere in Greece the men were wearing linen pants and shirts. I broke down and bought a set--most comfortable thing ever worn and really helps in the heat. It was in the 100's there and still is here in Palm Springs. Don't care what I look like, I feel much cooler.
But, Star, I did do the double polo shirt thing--Mr. preppie.
I was into the lycra miniskirts with colored tights.... especially with big jackets.. my big jackets were longer than my skirts.... and boots.... suede boots. also big belts....
my favorite outfit was my black suede boots with cranberry tights, black mini skirt, cranberry half top and a black jacket with a big gaudy paris rhinestone pin.
i also had big hair (still do) but i was a mousse queen with big bangs.
I was a wicked cross between the girls from Heather's and a professional street walker.
I guess they do look a little like pajamas but everyone there wears them. I was mistaken for a native of the island of Mykanos while in my outfit--tourists kept asking me directions.
