Saturday

oh hello (hello......hello.....hello.....)smile
Stop on back Sunday Night! On Jazz 101 I have some great old recordings by legendary Milwaukee DJ Dr Bop from 1966- he was on soul station WAWA...and was a TRIP!
Those in the Milwaukee area might remember Bob Reitman from Reitman and Miller. He was just salivating to get these, so it was my pleasure to hook him up.

We have about one hour before the boy is delivered back to us. We enjoyed the break.

How do you know Bob Reitman?  That BASTAGE talked me out of pursuing radio as a career when I was about 22 years old because he said it was such an unstable business.  angered.gif

he's a member of the Ron Cuzner fanbook page, and was looking for RC recordings. I had some so hooked him up. Since then, we occasionally email info on cool stuff, like DR BOP, being aired THIS SUNDAY on JAZZ 101.smile

HA! BEFORE Reitman can get to it on WUWM.

GO OUT WITH A BANG BRUTHAMAN!

I think that was it JD  nod.gif

Actually, in all seriousness he was nice, but very negative.

I had written him a letter (back in the days when that was how we communicated with people) and just told him I was interested in pursuing a career in that and wondered if he could give me any advice.

I had already toured another station in town, and was shocked when I got a letter back from Reitman telling me to call him in the studio when he was on the air one day.

But when I did, he was just really negative about the business.  Saying how his situation was rare and that most DJ's are unemployed A LOT and if they're lucky enough to be employed they usually change towns every year or two.

He was just being honest but I was too insecure at the time to deal with it.  In reality he probably did me a huge favor because if I could handle hearing it I probably wouldn't have dealt well with living though the actual career.

Still tho, DAMN REITMAN!!!!  angered.gif

I think about that Jesse guy- who wanted to come see FFR and did the night gig on one of the FM stations. Went from Milwaukee to like Aimes, Iowa or something. Gettin bounced. I don't think that's a fun way to live. Plus these guys I think make like $28,000 a year maybe- granted for 4 hr shifts or so, but ya gotta go work at walmart then to make ends meet....

lol if you DONT START OUT AS A LEGEND, YOU ARE DOOMED!no
