32k Stream Now Available

Alright.

At the moment this is just a short term test scheduled to last about a month. If we get enough people to tune into it we will keep it.

The 32k audio stream should be good even if you only have dial-up service.

You can access it here...

Freeze-Frame Radio 32k

Don't forget to disable your pop-up blocker until the player window starts.

I am very excited about this oppourtunity for people with dial up to be able to access the station. I know of a few listeners who listen at work via T1, and would listen at home but don't because they have dial up. Here's your chance!!

I hear music.  I really hear music.  I can't believe I'm listening to FFR at home.  Jeremy is the greatest!!!!!!!!

How does it sound Mz?

32k makes me nervous.

I could bump it up to 56k, but that may create problems for dialup still.

It sounds friggin' awesome!

OK, my excitement aside, it still sounds better than anything I get from my radio stations at home.  I don't need top quality as long as it's clear, and I really can't tell any difference between the broadcast and the mp3s I play.

OK, I found one little problem, but I don't think there's anything you can do about it.  I have to make sure I've got everything else I'm doing loaded before I load FFR, or it'll be all choppy until everything's done using bandwidth.  I'll learn to live with it now that I can actually listen!

Yeah Mz,

That's pretty typical for dial-up. That's why I don't suspect there will be many interested in it.

But if you're just tuning in, and maybe doing a little light web surfing, it will probably suffice.

I'm usually either working or playing games, so it'll work just fine for me.  I just have to load my game first!

Hey Mz,

Make sure you rate us!

We'll have a tough time getting noticed at first. They rank the stations by hours listened to and we'll be at 0, which puts us on page 50 about!

But hopefully if people are zipping around and see the high rating they'll give it a chance.

Can you put a link to the slower connection in your descript for FFR?

I'm making FFR lite my favorite now in addition to rating it.

That's a good idea.

I'll have to do that. Then if someone is reading the station info they'll see we also offer something for dialup.

OK, FFR lite is now my favorite, but I can't find a way to rate using Live365's new player...  (By the way, I'm a VIP now, so you can have my pennies!)

JR - I just want to say thank you so much. There are no words that can express my ability to listen at home via dial-up. It's just not the same when all you are able to do is participate in the forum. The forum definitely goes better with music. Rock on!

Hey Confuzzed,

Believe me it makes me feel good to know it's not a wasted addition.

I'm really happy you and MZ will make use of it!

I was going to ask if it was possible to listen with dial-up and then I saw this thread!  I lost my broadband (and my job) last month - I used to work from home - and I haven;t been able to listen.  I'll try this ASAP!  Thanks Jeremy!

By the way, I start a new job July 25, so all is well on the job front fortunately.... :)

I was just looking through the old posts and realized today is the one year anniversary of us adding a 32k stream.

I'd like to thank JD for that. After a one month trial I didn't think it was used enough to justify keeping it, but JD disagreed, he liked the idea that people with dial up could tune in and he liked having the slots available for overflow listeners from the 64k line.

As a result he decided to pay for this line himself, and he has continued to do so for a full year now!

Thanks JD! I think people like Fuzzy and Chef really like being able to tune in even though they don't have broadband!
