Dave, I live in SD, It looks like the weather is finally cooperating and they might be getting it under control. I am still waiting for any updates but haven't heard anything yet.

Here is a link to our newspaper.

We're praying for you Sparky.  Run for Dovetails house if you need to, or would Mel be closer?

That reminds me.  One time I had a cat who caught on fire walking past a candle.  I got him put out but his fur was cinged for awhile.  So moral of the story - cats are flamable!!

Thanks! I should have one heck of a water bill, I left the sprinklers going all day and also have one placed on top of the house!

Yesterday I took the video camera and filmed the inside of my house for insurance purposes. This is something I recommend everyone should do. It's easier to collect if they have actual proof of what you lost.

Star, Thanks for pointing out that I'm more flamable than most people.

Dave, Thanks for the tip on the paint, one more thing to add to my list.

Hope you included brand names and or serial numbers of the products you have.  A friend of mine lost their house to one of the California fires.  And did not have the proper documentation, like you plan for this thing and when evacuated run to get the tape, and is still working with the insurance company.

Luckily, I'm a little anal when it comes to serial numbers anyway, They are documented and tatooed on my forehead!

Speaking of, I need to get renter's insurance.  Can anyone suggest a company?  (And please, no lectures that I don't have it already.)  And while I'm thinking of it, can anyone suggest a company for life insurance too?

MzHartz - I don't know if they are available in your area, but State Farm is pretty good. I have my homeowner's through them. Try a quote from them. Good luck with your search.
