Where have you been?

So Ray is going to Florida and CP just got back from a European vacation. So I am wondering... where have you been?

I actually have been blessed that I have been to quite a few different states and countries:

I was born in Belgium, lived in Switzerland, New York, Illinois, and now South Carolina. I have been to Florida over a dozen times, from Jacksonville to the Keys. I have camped in Wisconsin and spent many a Thanksgiving there. I went to California to visit my aunt one summer. I have been to Tennessee to visit an exboyfriend. I have been to NC for the races and to go to Carowinds. I have been to England, Ireland and Wales for my high school senior trip. We have traveled extensively throughout SC and have camped at almost every state park. I have been to St Louis for a college party weekend. We got into a car wreck in Indiana and had to stay while our car was being fixed! I also went on a cruise to the Bahamas last year. I think that is it! Finally we went to Ohio last year to stay at Cedar Point (awesome time!) Gosh I am ready to go again, but with all my family troubles, we will do no vacation this year! But I think I'll survive!

How about you?!?

Out of the states I've been to Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel.

man that's a lot of traveling Ruby!

I have been through Minnesota, maybe stopped once for gas. Went to South Dakota, took a plane to Oklahoma once for job training. Been to Chicago a lot. traveled through Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, to get to Washington DC and Virginia for a week. Was up in Michigan a couple of times.

And of course traveled through Illiniois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississipi to get to Louisiana. Although it was the dark of night when traveling through Kentucky and Tennessee- didn't really see anything except the train station.   Memphis looked cool at night tho.

Never left the USA! Had thought about England a decade ago, now I just don't know- I like the home turf!

Nah Ruby,

I've left it, just not nearly enough.

Last fall when I had to go back to work I was close to getting a job with A.C. Neilson that would have had me pretty much going everywhere in the US. I kind of wish I would have gotten that, although listening to CP I also wonder if it might have gotten sickening real fast.

The only places I've ever gone have been Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Ohio and Nebraska.

But most of that was just drive through. The only places I've ever vacationed in have been Missouri (spent five days there to see the KC Royals play the Brewers) and twice to Deadwood, South Dakota.

Not exactly a globe trotter :)

Absolutely Sparky!

I LOVE THAT TOWN, I'm hoping to save enough cash to take my parents there next year.

I stayed at the "haunted" Bullock Hotel the last time I was there, never did see the ghost of the famous owner though

Might I suggest West Allis, WI as your next vacation spot, folks. Its a real slice of Americana. THere are a lot of old men (and women) who walk around in suspenders and fishing caps. THe greasy spoons are the greasiest. It is the station wagon capital of the world! Plus you could stop by WFFR and say hi!

Riggs, Did you stay in his suite?

My wife and I did and she swears something pulled the covers off of her! I told her it was probably ready to fall anyway.

There is a really old cemetary that is kind of hidden on the hill. I found it by accident one day. I will take you up there when you come! It's like something out of a movie with pine boxes showing just a little bit and head stones with gargoyles on them.

Sparky,

I did stay in his suite! It's the big one at the front of the hotel right? With the nice living area, kitchenette and stuff?

I don't think I slept more than 30 minutes that night man! I got myself all psyched out after reading all the old newspaper stories in the lobby and then I was lying there under the covers listening for the slightest sound.

It's funny, I can't help but be interested in that stuff, but if I ever actually saw something I'd probably die of a heart attack on the spot!

Good question, as a kid going on family vacations we did a lot of traveling and camping. We mostly stayed in Indiana for the weekend stuff but on the long vacations we were in Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. With my family and kids its been Florida, Missouri, California.
I've also been to Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Virginia. I've passed through various other states to get to these places. I've also been to Canada, Niagra Falls area.

My grandparents took me on vacation for a week or two every year, and we always drove, so I've been so many places in the US, I probably won't remember them all.  Let's see, I've been to the Grand Canyon, a few places in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, a few places in Wisconsin, including Wisconsin Dells a few times, Michigan, I saw Rock City, Mammoth Cave, Florida, Washington DC, Georgia, Cedar Point, Sea World, ...  My favorite place so far has definately been Key West.  Out side the US, I went on a train ride in Canada once.

JR-- you are right it does get sickening. I think the only states I have not been to is Oregon and Maine.  My most frequent travel is to Arkansas, Dallas, and Rhode Island, Chicago.  But when I travel I am usually in and out in the same day or in late with early meeting and late morning flight out.  That really sucks.  A lot of the time I actually meet with clients or other staff members as we cross thru the country, having our flights route thru a common city and meeting in the airline lounges.  Not much longer though.

Out of the country, Canada and Germany.  Germany was EXCELLANT!

Star:  believe me, if I could do it over, I would not even be in the running.  this is one contest that I would not want to win.  I have missed a lot of kids birthday's and anniversary etc.  That is why I now am going to change careers, and start up another business.  Very scary at my age, but I want to spend my time with my family.
