SHOUT BOX II, Return of the Rants

ARGH!  I need this right now.  You know that project that I've been busting tail on this week?  The one that had to be done this week?  I just found out that the client didn't get approved art to the printer until yesterday afternoon!  The soonest we'll get the pieces is next week Tuesday!  What the flip was the rush for, if you didn't even approve your stinkin' graphics!!  Well, as usual, everthing we were supposed to do is done.  And, as usual, the client has Cranial/Posterior Insertion Syndrome and will get the stinking project whenever it gets done.

Ahhhhhhhh.........whooooooooooo. (deep inhale/exhale).

I'm done.

That does suck.  I feel your pain.  I've designed stuff before and the event got canceled.  hey there are two rules the start of a thread is glue and no immediate tag backs.  I was going to try and get you here but I remembered that rule. okay.  hey, isn't it something how my b-day thread is doing better than yours??

I've learned not to take RUSHES seriously anymore. Someone ALWAYS drops the ball- as long as its not me, I am ok with that. I had a 14 hr day last night to get something turned around in 24 hrs. THE QC turkeys, the ones who pressure me "WE NEED IT WE NEED IT IT MUST GET DONE" are only getting to their end of it right now. Idiots!

We are in very similar industries JD so I know that you know what I'm talking about.  Why does no one in a decision postion ever ask these jokers, "Do you really need it now, or just want it now?"

And you stop that Star!  I'm just very happy that MZ got three threads for her birth anniversary.  Besides, your thread may be bigger, but mine cost more.

And yes, I just took the bait and have left myself wide open for a tag.

I hear you WEF. I am guilty of placing false deadlines myself, because I know this is the only way to get my stuff by the time I actually really need it! Its a weasel move, but totally totally necessary because it is weasels that are being dealt with!

ah...the joys of biddness!

This was exactly how my week went too. And all I needed was a good vent. It is nice to know that other people vent too. I am trying to look forward to the weekend but not so much into next week when it starts again.

I have been ranting all day.  Thank the gods that Monday the last of the vacation people come back.   It has been wretched in here.   3 weeks of solid 1/2 staff or less.

and the weasels are thick in here this summer.   last week one of the few that was not on vacation picked his 9 month old daughter up and hurt his back and was out for 2 days. And today another one of the non vacation people (Grima) said they were going to be late and would be in by 10, then Grima called and said 12 noon.   then Grima called again and decided to take the day off...

i am a twitch from a breakdown, my cubby looks like a file cabinet vomited on it.  i just had to stop and clean my desk.  it got to the point that i couldn't even find my post it notes.   I can actually see the key board again!!

my to file pile is a good 8 inches thick...  i vote for 6 song saturday again as i will be here filing my brains out.

HA!  Grima!  That's a good one.  Sounds like this person is in middle management.  I tell 'ya, Colossians 3:23-25 really does get me through.  I just remind my self that holding my integrity and doing a good job has rewards, maybe not from the source of the work, but somewhere, someday.  If I left it up to my own personal motivations and outlook, I'd be flipping burgers because my carrer would have been tanked a long time ago!

Oh do I need this thread tonight. This is great therapy. So back in October we were told that we would be getting a raise... but if you had family coverage for our health insurance, that would be increasing too. Well I averaged out to getting$80 less a month. I told my boss that I was leaving because we were getting ready to move into a bigger house and I needed that money. He immediately asked his boss for a raise for me. His boss said that it can only be done when the budget year is set. Then in April he asks his boss again about giving me a raise and changing my title. He tells him to put it in writing. My boss tells me all of this, so of course I am counting on it. Well our new budget year begins in June, so when I got my June check, no raise. Well I told my husband that I am leaving once my mother is out of the hospital and into a rehab. Today I got a letter saying that all qualified staff members have to start teaching. My boss and I are the only ones, in our area, that are qualified. The letter said we would get a stipend of $300. Well no way! I am way too busy during the school year to even post, I have a 13 (and juvenille deliquent!)and a 2 year old, my mother is a quadrepelgic and homeless and my dad is 72 with a new kidney, and I found out today that my girlfriend has to have the lump removed. Well I told him I think I am going to pass. It does not say we have to. Then he tells me that I must not understand, I have to. I told him that is not what the letter says and I state everything that is going on with me (again) to him. Then he says that my attitutde sucks. I tell him "Your are right- it does!" Well he comes back into my office 10 minutes later and tells me that he is not going to ask for a raise for me. I am like you are 2 months late in the asking anyway. I guess he does not know that I know that. Anyway, I told him not to bother, because I will leave soon. Now all five girls that work for us are pissed at him. But that does not help me! Oh well I do not know if I feel better, but I bet you are glad I am done!!!!

Awwwww Ruby, that sucks big time.

I hate the way companies operate, I really do.

It's good that you're going to get out of there, but you never really said where you're going. Do you have something lined up? Does your husband make enough that you can coast for awhile until you find something? Or do you not even need to find something?

Ruby, I had a friend who had a similar problem.  She had been asking for her raise for months, and finally decided she was fed up with it, found another job and quit.  On her last paycheck, her raise was applied.  (No back pay or anything, though.)

One of my pet peeves is that nobody talks to you in person anymore.  The company I work for is pretty small, so when I have a question for someone, I usually walk over to their office and ask.  Everybody else seems to email and call you, and I really don't understand the point.  Just come and ask me, it's easier to explain to you in person anyway!

Thanks everyone. Actually my husband does make enough, but I am the one with health insurance and we need that. I am not sure what I want to do either stay in higher ed- there are four other colleges here locally or go into the social services industry. I actually work at a christian college so things are usually not so yucky. My boss is usually not like this, but the corn cob is up his a** now and I cannot deal with anymore stress.

They are definitely yanking your chain.  Time to split.  Once your in the run-around web of "Need to talk to....", "Procedure to follow...", it usually means they are trying to make it so miserable that you leave and they don't have to fire you.

Well the funny part about it is just last week we had some major problems that I had discovered. It took about three days for me to fix someone else's problems and then we had a big meeting and at the end my boss told all the big wigs that hiring me has been the best thing that he has ever done! Everyone agreed and just showered me with praise. My reply-- show me the $$$$$$.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I tlooks like I won't be able to get out of here early and head to the shore.   I was really looking forward to a couple of days in the sun and sand.  !@#$%^&*() people. They don't waork late to finish what they are supposed to do and put me almost three days behind. They get to go home on time. They get their weekend. I get aggrevation. I am here late every night. And now I do not get any sand. If they didn't push me back I would have been finished and out of here.

Did I mention ?

Thanks for that vent.

Sounds like you should dust off the ol' resume, 'Fuzzed.  This seems to be a repeating pattern.

WFTR - I am already doomed. The merger agreement has been out there since the middle of June. It still needs SEC and shareholder approval. But if it is approved, there is a 99% chance my job will be eliminated since we will not be the surviving entity. They will have their own accounting staff in San Jose, CA. Hey, what are you going to do? Nothing. Take it as it comes.

Time to go work for the IRS. They are going anywhere anytime soon.

Fuzz, I wish I come there and hug you. Then we could take turns strangling our bosses. I am praying for you that a better job comes your way!

Thanks Ruby. I think I may be in better shape that you (for a while anyway). May you find something where you are treated properly and there is no need to strangle the boss. I will just be hanging out here until they kick me out which should be - at the earliest - end of October. At the latest probably the new year.

well, everything that comes around goes around....  remember yesterday i ranted because Grima said she was going to be late then ended up not coming in at all.... well, i found out this morning that she is looking for a new job and had hit up an ex colleague for a referrel as there is a position open in her company (a really really good company) anyway this ex colleague called and offered to reccommend me for the position if i was interested as there was no way she would ever recommend grima as she is completely unreliable and irresponsible towards work.

i am sending out my resume tonight...  not that i think much would come of it, i get paid an awful lot here for my job and i would need to get an increase in order to move, but a chance to work for this componay is an awesome opportunity...
