Mornin' all.  I'm not doing much cleaning here, with the exception of loading the dishwasher and doing some laundry.  My husband's still in bed, so I'm just killing time until he gets up or it's time for my hair appointment.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MZ!

Hey! For craps sake! Aren't YOU supposed to be the one still in bed while your husband serves you breakfast today?

Better wake him up and switch places with him

I got up voluntarily, I couldn't sleep any more.  Plus, he's the only maitenence guy that actually lives here, so he has to get up at 8 on the weekends to water the flowers and clean the pool, so he's just laid back down for a while.  I can deal with that.

Well, the rain is trying to deter me, but that's what umbrellas are for, right?

I am with the rest of you.  I am going to clean too.  Now all I have to do is figure our how to put FFR out in my living room so I can clean too..  I have speakers mounted in my office--and I can't hear well enough when I am cleaning the bathroom.

Riggs was talking to D last night- they were hoping to get her out of intensive care and into a private room today- not out of the clear yet.

She sounds like such a nice lady. Riggs said that whenever he'd get her on the phone she'd always invite him over to dinner and always have him laughing. Sounds like a wonderful person.

Happy Birthday MZ!!!

I haven't been up very long. Last night, the data center where my servers are housed did some upgrades. They started at 10:00pm and said they expected it to take about 1 (one) hour but just to be safe, said to allow up to 4 hours.

One of my two servers did come back in just over an hour, but the other one didn't. I waited all night watching their forums. At 5:00am this morning, they said that everyone was back online . . . NOT!

I told them I still had one server down and they found that they plugged the ethernet cable into the wrong port on my server. Lots of other server owners were still trying to get back online then too. I'm glad I stayed up or they would have gone off not knowning it was still down. So anyway, I went to bed at 5:30am this morning and got up about 10:00am. Hopefully there will be a nap in this afternoon's future.

I just got back from breakfast with my uncle and a friend of ours. We used to do part time work for my uncle on Saturdays- light construction and maintenence work. I quit doing this about a year and 1/2 ago, and my uncle retired the contract in january to retire.

In the past year, our buddy lost his 22 yr old daughter to cystic fibrosis, and my uncle had to have his legs amupated at the knees due to poor circulation. I think its Chrone's disease, but I never asked the details.

You would have thought this would have been some sort of pity party, and rightfully so. Not that I dreaded going, but I was a bit nervous, as things have obviously had gone worse for them then the last time we saw eachother.

I am happy to report that it was not a pity party. My uncle is doing just fine in his "new legs" and is so happy to be alive, not in pain, and able to get about just fine with a cane. I was able to joke that "hey they made you 3 inches taller!". The trip for breakfast for him is 100 miles round trip, so that he is able to get around that good in his equipted van made me happy.

And our other buddy, although he looked rough, is surviving and is continuing on. The whole town showed up for his daughter's wake. The line was out the door and down the block with people there to pay their respects. This wonderful girl touched that many lives. Everyone who ever met her loved her, as she did them. This was a great comfort for him, his wife, and the rest of their family- that the whole town was there grieving with them, they were not alone in their grief. Some days are rougher than others for them. But they really try and have a lot of fun with their other children- they are a baseball fan family- they still go to a ton of games, grill out, they are still together.

I guess I wanted to get this out there to show you the resiliancy of people. Pain, obstacles, can be overcome, or at least held in check. You can carry on, have good days, see the importance of living every day. I thought I might come back from this breakfast depressed. Instead I am charged up and inspired by these guys.

JD, thank you for posting that.  I love to hear those kind of events that inspire.  I admire those and try to emulate people like your Uncle that looks adversity in the eye and says--nope, I am not a victim here.

Absolutely CP. Sure it took some adjustment, but he has mobility, his time is his own, he can do what he wants when he wants, the sun is shining, and he had breakfast with friends. Life is good!
