  youre doin fine with whats playing ,  a Q thou , who was that guy from late 60s early 70s who did fussin ?  he played a horn and would perform at the big rock concerts .  been rackin my brain , thanx dave

I like this Pat Matheny!  Does all of his stuff sound like this?


On a totally seperate note, have you heard any Sun Ra?  I have a friend who turned me on to him, some of it's good and some of it is just hilarious!

that is really the only pat methany song I really dig Mz- really don't know too much about his other stuff- although it really doesn't sound like Last Train Home. That was a big hit for him! Isn't that a great song???

Although you can't play it, my favorite has to be Nuclear War.  Have you ever seen any of his movies/documentaries, or whatever you want to call them?

Oh, the documentaries are hilarious.  His whole premise for all of his music is that he's going to build a spaceship and take all the blacks to their own planet and start a civilization there.  So of course, for the time, they are all dressed "appropriately."  And of course, his music is playing throughout the whole thing.

wow! that is out there! It sounds too weird for even late night PBS to play!!! I've got some not as long stuff of his I can play -early stuff- the next time you tune in!


Usually the last 1/2 hr of jazz 101 I like to bust out some more out there stuff- sun ra, zappa- so you made my night wanting to hear some Sun Ra!!!

My husband is really into Zappa.  His favorite is Susie Creamcheese.  My favorite is the Muffin Man.  So if you're playing some Zappa and Sun Ra next week, I'm sure he'll be there listening with me!
