I just read an article about Trepanning. Do you know what that is?
You know how when someone has a brain injury, doctors drill a hole in the skull to relieve swelling? Well, some people do it on purpose without a brain injury. Hell, some people even try doing it themselves, with a drill.
Yes, you heard that right. SELF-TREPANNERS DRILL HOLES INTO THEIR OWN HEADS ON PURPOSE! They believe that "trepanation can lead to a higher level of consciousness by increasing the blood brain volume."
As you might expect, these Trepanners had to get it from somewhere, and where else to look for skull modification than ancient cultures. Specifically, skulls from Andes tribes (before the Incas) have been found with holes in them, and the nature of the holes indicate that they were applied when the person was still alive.
I need trephination like I need another hole in my head.
I agree. I don't get ear gauging either. Especially when they use something with a hole instead of one of those big plug type things, it kinda grosses me out. Kind of like dreadlocks on people who don't have naturally curly hair; those aren't dreads, they're dirty massive tangles. Ew.
Can't see drilling a hole in my head to attain a higher level of consciousness... unless of course it is done by a medical professional to relieve a subdural hematoma or something like that. It is not the kind of thing I would consider for "funzies".

I will gladly come over sometime for dinner and drinks. Gonna have to pass on the drilling of holes in the head. Based on what I've seen of Pambo's last couple surgeries, it musses up the hairdo.

Somewhat better when I last spoke with her. She said the pain range is generally now between 3 and 6. When she gets really stressed it might jump to a 9. Got her staples out last week. I think she said she has a follow up appointment on the 12th and they will probably tell her then when she can come back to work.
I gather she is otherwise having some issues with soreness from the surgical sites, specifically where the control device is implanted. She said that one was swelling badly for a few days, but treating it as one would treat lymphedema seems to help.
