Best Excuse

What was the best excuse you ever used to call in sick to work and what did you do with that day?

I don't know if this is the best excuse, but I got spring fever so bad once that I took a month off school and just bummed around srufing and island hopping. I went back to all of my professors and told the sob story that my twin brother died from a drug overdose and I broke down emotionally.  Most let me take the exams that I missed or gave me a C--becasue I was a 4.0 student.  I took it.

Oh my gosh Dylan, I can't believe you got me to admit that.  It was a long time ago and I was very young and still in my early education at the U.

I'm one of those people who never call in sick.  In fact, I only get paid for 5 days sick time if I don't use them, and I think I get 10 total.  I haven't used any.  But I don't have time to be sick!

If you hadn't guessed.  I don't have, nor did I ever have a twin brother.  I am so ashamed.

One time I worked in a production facility as the lead on 2nd shift. They would NOT let me call in sick. I did one day, and got SO BUGGED to come in, that I went in. I collapsed from exhaustion and fever that night. The main overall concern was "did the job get out???"

Still gets me mad to think about it, a decade later!

The last office I worked at was like that.  It was a cube farm, so everybody was always coming in sick, and you just kept passing the same thing around.  I am so glad to now have my own office.

I do not usually call-in sick. There was one time this year that I was deathly ill and I did call off. If I take a 'sick' it is usually more of a 'mental health day'. I am planning one for next week. Use them or lose them. But I have not yet decided what I want to do with myself. You must have a purpose otherwise it is just another boring day and you might as well have gone to work.

Come to think of it, with that one exception, most of mind have been mental health days too!

Have you heard that Budweiser commercial?  It starts out like, "To whom it may concern," and it goes on about how the sun is just right, and there's Bud in the cooler and ends with, "So you see, I'm not going to be able to make it into work today."
