I've got a friend who wants to sell us a used Sealy Posturepedic (sp?) full size bed in like new condition. (It's my husband's best friend, so I have no worries about the quality of it.) But I have no clue how much to offer him for it. How much would you buy a used good bed for?
Because of my back problems I paid $3400 for my mattress and it didn't make a damn bit of difference. I would suggest going to ebay and looking. I would not go more than 250.00, with it being sight unsee.
You folks in Milwaukee will apprecaite this, I worked at Milwaukee Mattress in High School--so I do know a little about the mattress business. Does anyone know if it is still there? the brother ran Pewaukee Mattress.
I don't know if I would buy a used mattress for myself. Not for fear of getting ripped off, just a little bit of an ewwwe factor. lol
If it was for a guest room or something, I wouldn't care. I'm just thinking about how close your body is (and theirs was) to that mattress. It's not like you can just take the mattress and throw it in the washing machine to get all those body oils and sweat out of it that has gradually soaked down through the sheets and mattress pad into the..... I better stop.
If it was coming from really good friends, it probably wouldn't bother me as much. I'm not trying to discourage you . . . just thinking out loud in trying to decide if that would give me the heebie jeebies or not. lol
We really want a Tempurpedic, but we can't afford that right now. We're hoping to get a really good bed within the next year, but the one we have is really shot. We need a new one, but we don't want to buy a mediocre one, we'd rather save our money for a good one. So, our friend (like I said, my husband's best friend, so it's a little less of the gross factor) is moving in with his girlfriend, so we thought we'd jump at the chance to get a bed while we can to last us until we can buy a better (and bigger!) one.
excellent! the first night of a new bed!! I bet you'll either not sleep a wink, or sleep the sleep of new-born babes! THAT! THAT is the qualifier of matress quality!
