ATHENS (Reuters) - Most of the bodies recovered from a Cypriot plane that crashed near Athens with 121 people on board were frozen solid, a Greek official said, suggesting the airliner was a flying tomb before it plunged to earth.
As accident investigators combed the crash site for clues, aviation experts were baffled at what appeared to have been a catastrophic failure of cabin pressure or oxygen supply in freezing temperatures at 35,000 feet -- nearly 10 km (6 miles) up, higher than Mount Everest.....
How horrible. That does sound like something out of the Twilight Zone. I'm supposed to go to Germany next year in the spring with my kids. I'm hoping my ten year old doesn't hear about this. He's a worrier.

I'm anxious to see what they get from the black box. Even though I'm claustrophobic, I usually do okay on planes because I know there's a way out (even if it does involve a large drop, that's okay, I'm not afraid of heights ). But if I hear this people were trapped with a malfunctioning air conditioner, that may change my opinion...
It will be interesting to see what the black boxes show. May not be much though as I think they only record for a short time before reusing the recording medium. If the plane cruised on auto pilot for a while. who knows.
They said on the radio this morning that the pilot's only had 20 seconds to react. I hate to think what would happen if I only had 20 seconds to react to something. It's no wonder they couldn't do anything about it.
