Holy Cow!

I stand corrected as to where Stoughten is in relation to Milwaukee. It is 60 miles away, not 100 AND they are saying some of the debris from the twisters actually landed in Milwaukee! They are investigating a possible 18 tornadoes!!

By the time the storm headed over Milwaukee, the sky was a sort of smoky ominous red glow at 8 at night, maple. The storm clouds had all sorts of thunderheads rising from them, but the sky about the clouds was a really pretty red sunset. We only got a very light sprinkle of rain here, but Mz said she got clobbered by the storms about 2 in the morning. They were moving really quickly!

We seldom get that bad here.
Sometimes we get some strong straight line winds that can cause damage but twisters are rare.

I hope everyone is all right. What a tragedy. I am deathly afraid of tornadoes. We lived in Germany for a long time and they don't have them there. When we bought my grandparents' house, one of the things I was really happy about was a basement. We get tornadoes around us, but rarely REALLY close to us. We are in between two rivers (the Illinois and Mississippi) and they usually blow out before they get to us (knock on wood). We do have really strong thunderstorms, though. Very scary stuff, that weather.

We get tornados in the surrounding areas, but it's really hilly here in Southern Indiana, especially Bloomington, so they usually bounce right over us. A couple years ago they got a big tornado in the town about 1/2 hour north of us, but we just got the winds. We can get some pretty bad thunderstorms though.

Looks like that one made it through the storm!

I heard that 1 person died, and 8 were injured. Someone was having a party and was grilling out steaks when it hit. I guess each of the guests grabbed their beer and ran for shelter. They were ok, but agreed that if they were going to die, they were going to do so with a beer in their hands!

HOLY COW!

I had heard reporters were having a hard time getting up there because crews were still clearing trees off the roads and stuff. I am sure they will cordon off the area where only safety crews, red cross, news, and residents can go there!

Seems like once every 5 yrs or so a town in wisconsin gets completely leveled by a tornado!

This lady who works here lives about 40 miles away from where the tornado hit and she said she had shingles in her yard!

SHe said they looked like birds diving at eachother, until they started coming down, and then she saw they were shingles!

Hey JD,

Mother nature gave me a punch last night. My windsheild is full of little nicks and I have an 8 inch crack in it from the hail :(
