Rise from the Ashes Monday

Good day all.

The forum has become a phoenix.  It dies over the weekend, then emerges anew on Monday.

It's probably the only thing that feels "anew" on Monday.

Good day, all. Yeah... I'm one for not even firing up my computer over the weekend if I can get away with it. I get quite enough of it during the week. I should be better about it.

So I'm thinking that this morning I should probably go over and tell the boss about my input to the 'after action review' for the network event (big nasty problem) I worked on all night on Friday. It involved me thowing someone (who totally deserves it) under the bus. Pretty sure I should tell the boss because doubtless he will hear about it today anyway. Better coming from me than from someone else, especially since I have a relatively large axe to grind with this individual anyway... and the boss knows it.

Otherwise, the Chiefs lost... as I figured they would. But none the less, they actually made a good showing anyway. It really wasn't humiliating failure. I think this is probably going to be a good season for them.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Both the Eagles and the Phillies played late last night and of course I stayed up to watch. Other than that the sun is out and it is a beautiful day. Now, if only I didn't have to be here.

Mornin'

"Rise from the Ashes" is an appropriate word picture for some stuff I've been dealing with for quite some time now.

Yeah, the forum is dead on weekends. I think as we all come by and find less, we stop coming by so much, which causes less activity, which causes us to come by less.

I need to do some work in the shop this week so I may not be around as much as normal over the next few days. hmm.gif

That's not literal, is it?  Nothing burnt down, right?

Are you going to be stripping? I don't know if I have any $1 bills.

Good almost afternoon.  We eliminated our home computer months ago because of the problems Jacob was giving us, but we were using dial up, so I just didn't get online much anyway....

I had a strange weekend.  Mr. DS has been acting odd for a while now, and I finally figured out what it is, but I really don't know if I want to address it or not because I really think it's absolutely ridiculous and quite frankly, I'm a bit offended...  We were talking about dreams (which he claims he doesn't dream --  whatever), and then he asked me if I've ever walked into a room and got a really bad feeling that I just couldn't shake.  Well, I thought we were still talking about dreams, and I said yeah.  Because sometimes I have dreams like that.  Then he proceeded to tell me that the day he came to my office to have lunch with me before he left on his hunting trip (over a month ago), he got this really bad feeling in his gut that he couldn't shake for a few days and it really bothered him.  He went on to say, "Yeah, you were on the phone with someone."  I'm still thinking he's talking about a dream, and I went on to tell about this dream I had where there was a supernatural spirit I could feel, but not see (blah blah blah), but then he said, again, "Yeah, I just had a bad feeling that made me sick to my stomach."  Then I asked him, "Oh, you mean for REAL?"  By this time I get it --  The little green monster was getting the better of him --  but, I just said, "Oh, I thought we were still talking about dreams.  No, I don't think I have."

Now, I'm thinking, "SERIOUSLY?!!"

I feel bad for not putting his mind at ease, but at the same time, I don't have anything to defend and I'm a bit offended.  Ok, truthfully, I feel more offended than bad... blankstare and I want to smack him upside the head...

I can certainly see why you would be offended. Perhaps he was just feeling guilty for some reason about leaving for his hunting trip. It is a very common thing for people to project their feelings about themselves onto others. I get that sort of thing a lot from the wuzband.

Good day all.

I had planned to do some shopping today and pick up some things I wanted for the apartment, but the kids playing in the park next door makes me think WI actually gives kids off for Columbus day, so rather than put up with a bunch of screaming butt munchers running around Target and Walmart I guess I'll wait until tomorrow to do my shopping.

It's gonna be tough to go back to work tonight. I've taken the last four Mondays off, so for a month I've had short weeks. Besides that I had off 7 of the last 9 days. I'm not mentally prepared for a regular five day week. no.gif

Hopefully it goes quickly.

Hee Hee... Butt munchers! I haven't heard THAT one in a while!
This weekend a lady at the grocery store called me a beech for saying to her kids who were chasing eachother, "Will you please stop running before you hurt someone or yourselves."

Another "oops upside the head" no

Man, if we ever ran around like that when we were kids, would have had our butts kicked.

I know... Right in front of God and everyone!

Even Isaac said, "You would whoop my tail if I did that."

I expect it at Wal-Mart, but not usually at the grocery store.

I don't know when it became "cool" to let one's children run amok in public places, but good for you for asking them to stop. Sad that the mother in question couldn't be bothered to parent her children a little better.

I know it happens, but it shouldn't expected it anywhere.

You're absolutely right, Fuzzy. It shouldn't be expected anywhere.
I guess what I was trying to say was that I always see it at Wal-Mart, but seldom at the grocery store.

Oh, I definitely understand. I have seen it at WalMart as well. The grocery store doesn't have too many occurances. And I go there morre often. In fact, I actually have seen parents straighten out their kids while in the grocery store. Of course then one kid was crying the rest of the way, one was sniffling and the other one wasn't involved.

On the whole, I think less people take their kids along to the grocery store than they do to Wal-Mart anyway. Not quite sure why that is, but fewer kids does tend to equate to fewer incidents of misbehavior. I think that there is probably less temptation for kids to act up in the grocery store anyway because it is a more orderly environment without so many things to distract one's attention.
