Am I getting old?!?

Dennis DeYoung lead singer of Styx and one of my all time favorite bands is coming to our local colisuem Saturday, October 22. Tickets are from $18-45 and he is playing with our local Charleston Symphony Orchestra.

I want to go really bad, but my husband thinks I need to live for today. He suggested Three Doors Down. That is definitely out, but I think I will buy the tickets anyway and take my sister.

I think it will be awesome. He plays Styx songs and his solo stuff.

There hasn't been a new rock cd that I HAD to have since Soundgarden's 1994 release "Superunknown". I think most new rock and pop music is really really bad, bands are manufactured businesses designed to make money on 1 or 2 pop hits these days. I realise that I am not the target audience anymore, and that's fine.

But I know this, and I am not even a Styx or Dennis de Young fan- but he has more talent in his pinky finger than just about any artist that has come out in the past 5 yrs. A great, world-class entertainer. Go! people have loved his music for over 30 yrs. That staying power that crosses generations is the sign of a true talented performer!

I don't even know who 3 Doors Down is! Would that be a show where you'd be 20 yrs older than anyone else there??

Thanks Ultimo. I should have bit my tongue and rephrased that- I meant what I heard on commercial rock radio. THere are a bunch of good bands out there that don't get the exposure they deserve- Doves, Interpol, much more.

I was just talking to my wife last night about all the clone bands now a days. They all sound alike, there just isn't a whole lot of originallity any more.

There's a couple of new bands that I like, but I do agree with Sparky, a lot of them are clones. Most of the time a song will come on the radio and I'll say, "I like this song," and then realize that there are some bands where I've said that for more than one of their songs. I like Luce, and what's that band that has the Ex Girlfriends album, and Beck, and a few others.
