Good day, all. After considerable motivational issues this morning, I have finally arrived at the office. Supposedly I will have lots to do today, but that remains to be seen.
Happily, I did find my "no finger tips" gloves I wear around the office when it gets cold. That may well prove to be the highlight of my workday.
Anyhoo... hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was mostly good except watching that hideous arse beating that the Chiefs took. At least it wasn't a shut out. AH well...

That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.
Busy, busy, busy. I need to stop time for a little while.
There's a NaNoWriMo halfway party tonight in another town that I'm pretty much expected to be at. I don't mind that part. But it starts at 5, and I'm not leaving work before 5, so I'm going to be late.
And then I idiotically offered to give people who didn't have a car a ride. Now I'm having to drive through campus to pick up one person who doesn't have a car and is getting out of a class late. I don't mind that part, and she'll be easy to pick up.
But then there's someone on the other side of campus, if you could find a point within city limits that was as far away from my work as possible, that's where he's at, that has decided he wants to carpool, and even said that where he's at should be convenient to anyone (anyone on campus maybe). He has a car, and he would get out of work on time to get to the party on time. But instead he's going to wait an extra hour or more so he can ride with me, even after I expressed that it would take me just as long to get to him as it would to get to the party.
Before you say it, I've only met him once, and I didn't get the impression that he's got a thing for me.
Well, so much for my plan for today. Won't get access to the new gear until tomorrow. So tomorrow will kinda suck... set up the software on the new gear in the afternoon, check it over immediately following, move traffic to it tomorrow night. Gonna be a long, long day.

Morning all. As usual, I feel that I could use a nap.
I fear that me phone is done. I can't get it charged. The connection is shot. It has been wobbly for a few weeks. But yesterday I couldn't get it to hold no matter how I moved the cord. Now, I was already searching for a new phone, but was waiting for November to see what new phones Verizon was bringing out. Well, those are out and public and I am not interested in any of them, so it is back to deciding between the two which I originally narrowed it down. Along with waiting to see about the new phones, I has also planned on waiting until the day after turkey day to see what deals were happening. Doesn't look like I can do that now.

It'll be fine. I just don't want to put out the cash. I'll end up paying less, as there is a $100 rebate card on both phones and I have a $50 credit toward a new phone. But the thought of laying out $200 or $250 now that I don't have sucks.

I hate that they make it a "rebate card". That stupid prepaid debit card. Why can't you just reduce the price I pay out of pocket? I want the cash back and not to have to spend some stupid card that I have to wait 4 or 6 weeks for.
I understand why companies will do rebates vs. instant discounts. It is a numbers game. It is one thing if the manufacturer is offering the rebate, but if the company you bought the product from is issuing the rebate, just reduce the price. Grrrr.

If you play the numbers game, it is one major thing: Many people will never get around to sending in the rebate or doing it on time so the company won't have to pay the money out. They retain more $. If they offer it as an immediate discount, they everyone gets it, which reduces the bottom line dollars. It also depends upon how the company reports such things on their financial statements.

Mz - I forgot to say earlier that it looks like you are making great progress on the book. Keep going!
Thanks! I have the second highest word count in our region. The highest is from someone who has never talked to any of us, who logged into the site one day after the first week to say they got their 50,000 words. I'm skeptical.
