Wait a sec! We're all talking about how we can help, why don't we do it together? Let's pick a charity or two and fundraise for the hurricaine victims as a station? I can help research the charity we'll use, Jeremy could mention something on the air and put a link on the main page... What do you think?
So, if everyone's up for this, what are some of the qualities that everyone would like about the organization we'd give to? Some people have said they want to give to an organization that helps pets. Obviously, we want one where the money will go to the right spot and not in someone's pocket. Anything else?
I'm betting our local firemen will have the boot out this weekend, He/she better have strong forearms as I'm looking rite at $100.00 in change on my desk . (not counting the pennies)( there in my bottom dresser drawer, the gang likes to crawl in there and play with em)
Put my vote in for the Humane Society - Especially since I don't know if my work will allow me to put my part toward that inparticular - I'll just donate twice - once through work and once through here if it's put together.
Unfortunately I'm in no position to help financially right now, but I'm more than happy to mention a charity (or charities) on the air and set up the appropriate links on our website.
I can also probably do like Dave is doing and turn in my coinage. I do have a lot of that layin' around.
Work set the e-mail out this afternoon thathey will donate $10,000 to the relief efforts. We have a matching program too, so they will match anything we give to any charity.

Hm... sounds like it'd be less confusing if people just donated individually. I just finished an online donation to the Houston SPCA... whether my work wants to honor it or not because it's not the Red Cross is up to them, but Houston SPCA not only took in all the New Orleans SPCA animals, but the pets of displaced hurricane victims as well.
Suddenly all the crap in my house isn't looking so wonderful...
We have our first Cub Scout meeting tonight. I'm trying to organize a bake sale so that we can donate some money to the Red Cross. I hope it goes well.

I did donate to the Red Cross. But, as JR mentioned, I have not seen or heard any other country step forward to offer aid through either manpower, monies, supplies, doctors etc.
Well, our local activites club, of which I'm a board member, had their normal 50/50 drawing at tonight's membership meeting. But I asked them to put the club's 50 percent toward the Humane Society for the Katrina hit area. We usually sell about $30 bucks worth or so, and then have to divide that... but we raised $111 tonight! And then I WON! So the whole amount is going... I've never won the 50/50 before, this was a good one to win!
