Its about an ex con trying to make amends for past mistakes. I think the tone is tongue in cheek because of the promo...
"Hello, my name is Earl...I am trying to make up for past mistakes....like number 62, buying beer for minors, and number 63...stealing beer from minors (they show him being chased by the teen agers)."
Another show that has a great feel is "Jailbreak" on Fox...very edgy and very captivating...just started ...check it out
Do you have any new shows that you think look promising?
I want to watch that show where the lady sees dead people--not Medium but the other new one that is starting this year. Otherwise, I am a Survivor and Law and Order Fan. I don't really watch sit-coms or soap opera types.
I know its not new to you guys but im really into LOST at the minute, we are about 4 or 5 episodes in so don't tell me anything that happens after that, I wasn't sure about it at first but its turning out to be a great show.
I read this weekend that Lost has really been a hit over there! We have been watching it too. It is pretty good and unique in the way they flashback. I like it too.
There is not too much I am looking forward too, TV can really suck sometimes, but I saw an ad for that Earl show that looked funny. I am looking forward to all three versions of CSI and the new Lost episodes and my old stand by sitcoms- King of Queens and ...Jim.
Yeah Lost has been quite a big sucess over here but most of your shows tend to be when they come over, We are getting that Prison Break show here soon too, I may watch that one, it looks good.
Ruby - I watched about 15 minutes of it. I wasn't really into it. I know sometimes you need to give a new show a couple of episodes to get into it, but I am not sure about it. It is kind of like Arrested Development on Fox. I really didn't like it either but people all over seem to enjoy it.

I was moving furniture and had the vcr set to tape it at 8:30. I either read the schedule wrong or they changed it. Did I miss anything Ruby? Would you watch it again?

Yeah I think it was on at 9. I am going to give it another shot because it did have me laughing. But like I said I was laughing at some very freaky stuff. The show definitely is pushing the limits in some areas! He is a redneck, so is his trashy exwife, and his loser brother. But I need to laugh more, so I will watch again!
The show has an off beat charm to it...has kind of a moral to it without being preachy...quirky humor...plus it is filmed...just gives it a warmer feel...still a thumbs up from me
Starting January 5, NBC's new Thursday lineup will be "Will & Grace," in its final season; the new buddy comedy "Four Kings"; the strong freshman show "My Name Is Earl"; and "The Office."
Although the show has done some things this season that have made me not like the show as much, I thought this was a neat story.
The odds are overwhelming that no other Hollywood writer or producer busied themselves during the WGA strike in quite the same fashion as did "My Name Is Earl" creator/executive producer Greg Garcia.
He looked at the involuntary hiatus as an opportunity to "get back in touch" with the TV viewers of America, hanging for a while on the other side of the fence, as it were.
Garcia spent the month of January working at an occupation in a world perhaps better suited to his lead character, Earl Hickey (Jason Lee): as a cashier and janitor in a fast-food restaurant that Garcia prefers to keep anonymous. And anonymous also happened to be what he remained throughout his 30-day gig, taking the job without revealing his identity until he was about to turn in his uniform.
A natural question immediately arises: Huh?
"This stemmed from an idea I got while I was working on 'Yes, Dear,' " Garcia says. "I've wanted to do a book about taking different jobs and what it was like to do them. This was the first. It may be a while before I do the second. But it's just about the fact that we live behind gates and work behind gates, and as a writer you start to lose touch with the audience. You start running out of life experience."
It likewise was perhaps an opportunity for Garcia to mine story ideas for his NBC comedy series, though he downplays that idea. What he's enthusiastic to promote is how fulfilling his adventures in minimum wage turned out to be.
"This wound up a really positive thing," Garcia said. "It didn't turn me off from fast food. In fact, it was really the opposite. The place was unbelievably clean. The people whom I worked with were great. And the work itself was fun. Really. I worked hard -- cashiering, cleaning the bathrooms. A few days in, they liked me so much they asked me to join their management team."
And on his way out the door, besides coming clean, Garcia gifted one co-worker whom he had befriended with a cashier's check for $10,000, which left the employee "confused, then excited. It was just something I felt I wanted to do."
But how did the people in charge of the restaurant react when they got wind of who Garcia really was?
"They were concerned at first because they were worried I might be doing some sort of expose," he said. "After we spoke, they felt good about the whole thing. And so did I."
BURBANK, Calif. March 4, 2008 Paris Hilton ("The Simple Life") will guest-star as herself on NBC's "My Name Is Earl" (Thursdays, 8-8:30 p.m. ET) in the one-hour episode marking the series' original broadcast return scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 8-9:00 p.m. ET.
In the episode "I Won't Die With A Little Help From My Friends," Earl (Jason Lee) is unconscious and various things from real life are bleeding into his unconscious mind -- which viewers will see. Paris Hilton is one of those things in Earl's fevered mind.
Said Greg Garcia, the series' creator and executive producer: "When we wrote the role of Paris Hilton in the script, we weren't exactly sure who to go with for the role. But after an exhausting search we finally settled on a relatively unknown actress by the name of Paris Hilton. I can't wait to see what she does with the role and I can't wait for America to discover her."
Hilton recently wrapped production on the feature film "Repo: The Genetic Opera" for Lionsgate Entertainment.
Created and written by Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia ("Yes, Dear"), "My Name Is Earl" is executive-produced by Garcia, and Bobby Bowman ("Yes, Dear"). Amigos de Garcia and Twentieth Century Fox Television produce the series
I thought this was a thread of a new forum member introducing himself to us. I was all set to say hello and welcome!!
Again, I have to praise FFR members (Ruby in this case) for not starting new threads all of the time! I'm glad you continued on the existing "My Name is Earl" thread. But yeah, it threw me for a moment there, too.
