I'm kinda excited that we're looking at a warm up this week: 30's and even 40's
I gotta take the dog back to the vet today at 2:30. She has some nasty something on her back. The first time, the vet thought it was some kind of skin infection and we put her on antibiotics for 10 days. That was a couple weeks ago. Now we can't tell if it's better or not. About the time we think we better take her back, it looks better, then a couple days we're not sure again.
Other than that, not much out of the ordinary planned for me.
She's had medical issues since she was a puppy. This is a new thing though, it's a patch on her back between her front shoulder blades that is raised up with scabs, etc. Then there is a small patch on her chest in front. Nasty stuff.
She's on a steroid for her allergies. Mrs Web was reading online that dogs that have been on steroids for the long term like she has been are prone to get infections of the hair follicle. The vet didn't say anything about that, but the symptoms fit.
Because of the steroids, her hair is really thin in places too. Poor thing.
Last time I was at the vet, she was telling me about another drug that is available now for allergies that works better and doesn't have the side effects of the steroid. She said the only problem is that it's "really expensive". I didn't ask then what "really expensive" means. I might ask her about it today to see if it's an option to get her on that rather than the steroid.

On a somewhat related note, I wanted to share... I saw a segment on PBS last weekend about the dogs that were seized from Michael Vick. 45 of them were rehabilitated, and one is even a licensed therapy dog. I thought that was so cool.
Morning all. Boy has it been cold here and I don't like it. I went out to start the car this morning and the temperature read -1. We don't get much of that here. I don't think it has been much over 18 in a few days. Brrr.

But it's NOT just another Monday EMZEE! It's the first Monday of the year with the Green Bay Packers as reigning NFC CHAMPIONS!!!!
Wasn't their prettiest game of the year, but against the Bears you never expect a pretty game!
Time for the Superbowl BAAAAAAAAAAAYBEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
I ordered myself a B.J. Raji jersey. I think a group of us are gonna go up to Green Bay to watch the game in a local sports bar, then hit the streets after the big win!

That sounds like hell.
I should clarify that. That many people, that much traffic, sounds like it would stress me out so much that I wouldn't enjoy the game.

I usually don't even like watching the games at a bar. But I've really gotten swept up in the emotion of it all. It's amazing how close you can feel to a bunch of strangers when you've got a couple drinks in you and you're all rooting for your team.
I'm still not 100 percent sure I'll go to Green Bay. It's going to depend on who else goes. There's a few family members I wouldn't care to hang out with socially. But we booked two hotel rooms and have an initial plan for eight of us to go.
I actually HATE crowds and have often said I think I'm crowdaphobic. I prefer a group of 2 or 3 people to a group of 20. BUT, one of the many goals I set for 2011 was to be more social, and this would be a good step. (going to the bar for the playoffs was a huge one too, I've never done that before).
Why? Because I overpaid or because you think I jinxed us?
I only had one other Packer item, and it was a pullover shirt that's nearly a jacket. The long sleeves make it too uncomfortable to wear in a bar full of people where it tends to get pretty hot.
I figured a jersey was in order.
I went with Raji because, well for one he ROCKS, but too, my body type probably is a closer resemblence to him than anyone else on the team.
When I slim down some I'll get myself a Clay Matthews!
I've really missed group therapy and all my little precious lovies
I don't even watch football, but JR being all pumped up makes me all pumped up Hope you have a great time and keep your wallet in your front pocket -- just a little motherly advice

YAY! DS is back!!!
Don't worry DS, I usually only carry money when I go to a crowded place like that. I don't even bring my wallet. (unfortunately I haven't been carded in about 5 years so I think that phase of my life is over. No need for ID. )
FUZZY: I know, I'm ashamed I don't have more Packer gear.
After this purchase I'll be more frugal in my search for additional stuff.
Apparently you must not be a t-shirt type of guy. I do not have any jerseys or sweatshirts. I have plenty of t-shirts from across my sports - baseball, football, hockey and soccer.

Back from the vet. We got a different doctor this time (Mother-in-law of the one we saw last time).
She's stumped. She took a sample to test for ringworm and took a blood sample to check for Thyroid issues. She's also going to check on other medicine options for the allergies and see just hoe much it would cost to get her on that. We wait for test results before knowing where to go from here.
The vet called back and said the Thyroid test showed that she is VERY low. I went back and we now have Thyroid meds for her. 30 days on this new dosage, then test again and adjust. She said that the low Thyroid could make her more prone to other things like a skin infection.
