The groundhog did NOT see his shadow. An early spring!
*looks out window*
Darn groundhog better be right.
The counties on either side of us aren't letting anyone other than emergency vehicles on the road. I figure I'll stay home this morning. If the computer guys comes with my new computer, I'll go into the office after lunch. Until then, I don't see a reason not to stay huddled under my blankets on the couch and work.
All of our government buildings are closed, along with many, many businesses, except the City of Saginaw. My husband had to go to work this morning; luckily one of the guys he works with called and told him he'd pick him up since he has 4 wheel drive. Good thing because our vehicles aren't going anywhere any time soon....our driveway has huge snowdrifts and the street in front of my house looks like it has 2 to 3 feet of snow in it. Only roads being plowed right now are highways and streets bordering the hospitals. I don't expect to see a snowplow until sometime tomorrow. Our state police are telling everyone to stay off the roads because you can't get down them anyway.
Looks like I'm the only one of our bunch that didn't get buried with snow this time. We gots the cold though. It's currently -7. The wind has stopped blowing so that helps make it not quite so bad.
The boy has a 10:00am start again today. I'll drop him off at school, then I'm going to go back to see Dr. Drilly and see if he'll prescribe some kind of pain meds. Ibuprofen is working, but only if I take it every 2 hours. If I take that much, then I get real shaky and twitchy feeling from too much Ibuprofen. It is a "little" better today, but still a constant, steady pain.
Good day, all. I went out at about 8:30AM to start clearing the driveway. In many places, the snow was quite literally deeper than the snow blower is tall (not including the handle of course). Someone came through and plowed the easements thought the road itself has not been plowed. Unfortunately, this means that there is a 2 foot ridge of snow at the end of the driveway. I cleared everything down to that area and knocked most of the snow off the Excursion, but had to take a break before attempting to move "snow mountain". This is gonna suck. Kev is pretty bent on getting out and hitting the road, so looks like I'm going back out to shovel here in a few. There is no way the snow blower is getting through that mess.
Meanwhile, according to what I heard on the local news this morning, there is another storm brewing down south where this one came from. Looks like it might be here by Sunday.
Web... I hope the Dr. hooks you up with the pain meds today. Can't believe he didn't do that yesterday. That is standard business around here.
Mz... be careful with the ice rink. It is not worth risking your life.
Ghost... good luck with getting dug out. Staying home really is the best idea.
JR... get some rest. That there is a long, miserable night.
Hope everybody has a good day.

I just talked to JR on IM. He just got home and is headed to bed.
I talked to Dr. Drilly's receptionist. He was with a patient, but she said she'd talk to him and call me back, which she did. Dr said that he's not surprised that I'm hurting giving the amount of work he did yesterday. He also decided that it would be good to have me on antibiotics just in case some infection got started with all the work. So, why didn't he do that yesterday?
Anyway, about 1/2 hr into pain meds and I'm still hurting, but don't care quite as much.
That is the thing about pain meds... I don't think they actually dull the pain at all. They just seriously take away your desire to care about the pain. If you take enough of them they take away consciousness quite nicely as well.
So between me and my neighbor Guz we got "snow mountain" moved from the ends of our driveways. Kev happily hit the road so I'm getting some peace and quiet aside from the conference call I'm currently on. Still have another neighbor to dig out... she is having knee surgery so it is not like she can do for herself.
Let me say this about that: Sub-zero rated snow pants... one of the best investments I've made lately.
