When was the last time you cried?

It seems that I went years without crying, but I have made up for it this past year! The last time was last week when they called me from school to come pick up my son for wrestling. I was crying because they told me he was going to jail. Anyway, in  my nosy way- when was the last time you cried? And by the way, I know men cry- it has been awhile since my hubby cried, but I did see it once in 7 years!!

My theory is that too much crying will leave you dehydrated.

The last time for me was last year when I found out my beautiful kitty Bailey ( boo boo) was discovered of having cancer. I cried the night we brought him home. That night while I tried to make his last weekend the best it could be by just spending it with him and then that monday when we put him down. I cried when we buried him the same day. I cried when we got home because my other baby kitty was so lonely.

About 2 years ago for me. One of the girls that was in color guard with my daughter died in a car accident. It's one of the most gut-wrenching times I've been through. Friends losing a daughter, close to our daughters age. You can only imagine what it's like for them and still not know the pain they are in. The dad is just now beginning to get on with his life. For nearly two years you could still see the pain in his eyes. I wanted to cry for him after everytime we did something together. But now they're both letting the pain go and celebrating Abbeys life and cherishing the time they had. I'm sure there will always be moments for them. Just typing this got me a bit emotional.

It's strange, I can stay strong in most circumstances, but then sometimes I break down at the littlest things. I guess I cry the most when I'm mad, not sad. I think the last time I cried was over the toilet. Ok, it wasn't really over the toilet. The chain broke in the tank for our toilet, so my husband got a new one and put it in. Well, when the toilet flushed, sometimes the little stopper thing attached to the chain wouldn't close, so it kept running. My husband would blame me, saying I didn't flush the toilet right. This made me so mad, how can you not flush a toilet right. He kept "fixing it" and it kept doing it, and each time he would blame me. Each time he blamed me, I got mad at him, and he said he was sorry, but then the next time he'd blame me again! So the last time it did it, I was standing right there when he "fixed it." I saw what he was doing wrong, the arm went up to far and was touching the top of the tank, so I told him about it and he ignored me. I got so mad, I cried and fixed the damn thing myself. It's worked since then. (By the way, don't take this as our normal relationship. Other than the toilet, I can't remember the last thing we argued about, and I can't remember where he's ever actually blamed me for anything else.)

What's more important to me is the times when I haven't cried. I hear about Mz's children all the time, and both of us stay strong. I didn't cry last Friday about Mr. Hartz's mom, because I knew he needed me to be strong for him. I only cried once when my hubby's father was in the hospital and passed away, because again, it was one of those times when I needed to be the strong one. He calls me his rock, and I'm happy to be able to be there for him when he needs it the most.

I had gone a long time without crying until my mom died three years ago. After that, most any little thing would bring back a memory or something and cause a tear. It would hit me the most when I was alone and all was quiet. I think Memorial weekend at the cemetary was the last cry for me. They are getting farther apart now as time moves on.

Ruby - I do my best to avoid tears. There is no real need. I am similiar to Molly, if given the right circumstances, I cry more out of anger. It is one of those angry and upset all at the same time. Maybe I was a bit misty eyed (but no real tears) as I left my Mom's house last Sunday. Settlement was Thursday so the house I spent 30 years in is gone. Other than that, it would have been the day that the CEO went off on me over the phone while he was in CA and I was in PA. There was even someone else in on the call. I was so angry. He yelled, I raised my voice back. And in the end, I was right anyway. Duh.

Until last year I don't think I cried at anything other than sporting events since I was a kid (you just can't help but tear up when Cal Ripken is taking his victory lap around the outfield).

Actually. I take that back. I have been blessed in my life to not have to attend any funerals until 2000, that's when my Grandfather died, who I was not very close to at the time, but as a child was extremely close to. I was amazed at how the feelings and memories flooded back and I cried a lot that week.

Other than that, no crying except for too many instances last year. After my Dad was diagnosed with cancer it seemed to open floodgates, and bad news after bad news often had me welling up with tears. I think part of it was always rooted in the situation with my Dad though. It kind of made me a bit unstable emotionally.

I have to admit, I can get a little teary eyed at a really good song too. To this day if I listen to Tim McGraw's "Don't Take The Girl" I'm usually getting a sore throat from choking back a tear by the time he gets to the part where his wife is dying during child birth.

All right, I guess I'm just a big baby after all

When my daughter was born 10 months ago, it just seemed to come out all of a sudden. Even her macho Grandpa welled up a bit.

The most romantic thing is for a man to cry (without overdoing it, of course). My hubby and I went to the theater to see Big Fish. The ending is sad and happy at the same time, I choked back tears. At the end of the movie, right before the lights came up, I leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek, and his cheek was wet. That made me happy. It's okay for men to have feelings too.

the time before that I cried when Hank Arron walked out in his uniform for the closing ceremony of County Stadium. The whole history of baseball in that stadium had just come to light. People old and young were there- old people who were huge brave fans and never even went to a brewers game but once or twice. Man did the flood gates open. FOr just about everybody. I am sure the dozen or so beers in me sort of led me to be a bit emotional that day....

I had a little of that sports emotion too after the final game and the closing ceremonies at Veteran's Stadium.

Like WebGuy, when my Mom died in 1998 it brought my emotions right to the surface.
For a long time it seemed almost anything would reduce me to tears on a moments notice.
Now I still cry kind of easily.
When I have said something stupid and upset my wife, seen a person or an animal in pain, read or heard someones good news and even parts of movies.
I guess you can call me a real softy.

They tore down the trees today by the spot where I sit by my ducks. had no idea that was happening. the spot is ruined. the wild life is gone. the river needs a retaining basin and thats why. I loved that spot. thats what I do, I do my jazz show, and I sit at my spot and read. My heart is broken. I am still crying inside. This spot was my tv to watch the ducks, the huron, the hawks, the deer, the coyote, and the old turtle pass by. The steel jump upstream come fall. That spot was my magic place to go on earth. My heart is broken.

My husband had a spot like that. It was behind a park in a bit of woods next to some abandoned railroad tracks. You also used to be able to walk on the tracks that were a bridge for the trains over the dam, it was really cool. But, they tore the bridge down, pulled the old tracks out, and cut down those trees to make a paved area with benches. He was so mad. And then later, they decided to expand the park to across the river, and they tore down the cafe that my husband and I met in. Bastards.

Gosh JD, I know how much you love that spot too. I will pray that you can find another soon. I have a spot that I made in my yard, so that no one except Mother Nature can disturb it.
