Grocery shopping

Do you do it yourself (if you are married)? How often do you go?

I will not allow my husband to go because he does not shop, he buys! He never looks at prices and refuses to buy generic. He won't go with me either! And right now little E is sooo bad in the grocery store, that I need him home with her! I always go once a week and rarely stop in between. I spend too much and never can spend under $125. But I am feeding five people three meals a day!

We usually go together, She's picky about some things she'll eat but I'm not. We usually spend about $120 to $150 but it lasts us about two weeks. Alot of it goes in the deep freeze.

We spend about $100 every two weeks. We both go, because if I go alone I forget stuff and end up buying the same old stuff because I'd be worried if my hubby likes it. And, I'm more likely to kill someone if I go alone (I have cart rage, but I'm really good at bottling it up).

My wife usually goes with the boy. He loves going to the grocery store (always has). Sometimes I go along with them, just depends on what's going on.

I do all my own shopping. My imaginary friends don't help. It can vary but I guess I average about $100 every two weeks. It may be a little more if there are some items that you don't get every time you go shopping like cleaning supplies. It may be more one week and less the next time. It depends on what is on sale and how much if it I toss in the freezer.

Oh yeah, forgot to add . . . .

We spend $75 - $100 per week. It varies due to when we needs things like laundry soap, dishwasher soap, etc. Those weeks are the $100 weeks.

I go about every 2 weeks and usually spend about 60-80 every 2 weeks. We dont eat  alot at home because I am sooooo tired and usually we buy mostly kitty food and kitty litter for the furballs plus when I decide to bake is when I buy to much food.

I get the cat's stuff at PetSmart because the grocery store doesn't have it, so I didn't count that. But we buy in bulk there, so I'd say we spend about $50 a month on cat stuff (not counting toys).

I buy most of my toiletries at Wallyworld or Target. I only buy them at the grocery store if we are in dire need of something. We do not have a superwallyword or target yet. But they are building one right across from my neighborhood. Also, we only eat out once a week, usually Friday nights we go out or order in.

We don't eat out much. My wife and I try to do one lunch together every week (usuallly Thursday or Friday) and we usually do McDonalds on Saturday lunch because the boy likes those Happy Meals so much (and it's easy).

Like Ray we usually go together but sometimes separately.
Like Ruby we get our toiletries, paper towels, cleaning stuff, etc. at Wallyworld.
We usually average around $50 per week.

One of the ways we keep our costs down is that we go to at least 3 different places. Kroger has better deals, but Marsh's meat is better quality, and we get cleaning stuff, toilet paper, etc. at Dollar General.

I shop stupidly. I am at the grocery store at least 3 times a week, usually right during rush hour and I absolutely hate it. I have/take no time to preplan more than 2 meals at a crack.

That is a whole nother issue! I do not preplan either. We eat what is on sale most days! I stock up when there is a sale on what we usually buy.

My wife plans out the whole week. She decides what to do for supper each night then makes the grocery list based off that. She might adjust to what she finds on sale, or buy the sale item this week then use it next.

Somehow I am unable to get myselg to plan the week's meals. I always have the best intentions. It would be easier but I guess my laziness wins. It may be easier if I had to plan for more than just me.

I miss those days though Fuzz. My husband has to have a full meal every night! Meat, bread, starch and veggie! No leftovers-ever! That is lunch!

I miss fish sticks or canned food!

Good old soup, cereal, frozen dinner-type things. I seem to have those things for lunch often so I try to have a nice somewhat healthier meal for dinner.

I don't mind cooking. I just would rather cook for more than just one person.

Cooking for oneself is tough.
Before I got remarried I would just throw something together.
The most planning I did was to put something in the slow cooker before I left in the morning.

Now young molly,

what you need to do before cooking is open the wine and pour yourself a glass and sit down and drink it. Pour yourself one more and drink that. Pour yourself a third, and sip that as you begin your meal. At that point it becomes a bit more fun, like a hobby!

My wife and I usually shop together--but I have a tendancy to just throw stuff in the basket--We spend about 200 a week, but its becasue everybody hangs out at my house so my refridgerator and cupboards get raided a lot.

I've tried that JD. And I had to start adding an extra $100 to the grocery bill for all the wine!!!

oooph young molly!

I guess wine is fine, but liquor is quicker! a shot or two bottle of whiskey perhaps? Or I hear Mz has great drink ideas like Sunny D and Jaegermeister, Cinnamin snapps and milk etc, whatever is in the house!!

Yeah, Mz does come up with a lot of good ideas of drinks just because nothing else is in the house. I love her milk, kaluha, and buttershots over ice!

JD as you know I like drinking my dinner from time to time.  I like that idea.  Thanks for making the suggestion to Molly.  I don't want to be the only one.
