Graduation gift ideas?

I need some ideas for a grad gift for my youngest daughter, so I thought I'd ask you guys, see what you can come up with.  She's graduating high school on June 2nd and she won't be going to college....long story short, she absolutely hates school so there's no sense paying for it.  She doesn't drive; another long story but she's terrified to do it.

I'm stumped on what to get her for a gift.  She has a cell phone and a camera; she doesn't wear jewelry; and if I give her money she'll save it and spend it on us for Birthday/Christmas gifts.  Her sister got her a PSP (which was my idea, but she stole it!)

Anybody have any ideas?? confuse

Does she have any hobbies?

Her main hobbies are video gaming, spending time on the computer, and listening to music.  She doesn't really have a lot of hobbies. hmm

She likes to fish, camp, and spend time up north too.

No she doesn't DS.  I thought of getting her one but I don't know if I can swing $500 or $600 on one right now.  Has anyone seen a decent one cheaper?

If you have a MicroCenter in your area, you might try there. They sometimes have some great deals.

A bluetooth ear piece for her phone? A wireless headset for listening to music and gaming? What type of video gaming does she do, PC, Xbox, Playstation? If she does Xbox, what about Kinect?

Or, what about something that gets her out of the house? Like a weekend getaway with her and her friends? Send her friends up to the cabin, stock it with food and supplies, and pay for a bus or taxi or something to get them up there?

What type of camping does she like, cabin, RV or tent? If she likes tent camping, a nice 4 person tent, plus cooler, dishes, etc. so she's got her own camping kit might be cool.

I know I would have LOVED a brand new car when I graduated!  nod.gif  (Instead I got six months of free auto-insurance)

Oh, and a brand new car would be a huge incentive to learn to drive!

JR - are you offering to buy her daughter a car? That is mighty generous of you. nod.gif

I don't suggest going with what my mom gave me for graduation: an arse chewing over my then boyfriend being in the house, a framed poster of "Footprints In The Sand" (odd choice for her as she is an atheist), and a bottle of Asti Spumanti. The actual reason she handed over the bottle of Asti was that she felt really bad about yelling at me all day long, going to dinner after my graduation ceremony without me, and forgetting completely that it was also my 18th birthday. hmm.gif

I will say that a week or two later she did buy me a 1980 Datsun B-210 sedan. Cars for graduation ROCK.

"Shant"?  Really?  Dude, are you baking a quiche for supper, sipping some white wine and watching Masterpiece Theater reruns?

Fuzzy, I have it on good authority he can, but just wont.

Yes but I think the OxyClean should help get it out.

Mema, that sounds similar to my graduation day. It wasn't my birthday (I wasn't even 18 yet), but I also got an arse chewing from my stepdad, grounded for the rest of the day, not allowed to go to dinner afterwards, and only a quick visit with my dad outside the back of the auditorium before having to be home so I wouldn't get my arse chewed again. But really, that wasn't any different from past birthdays, Thanksgivings, Christmases, etc. At least I was spared on my wedding day, I didn't get that arse chewing until I got back from my honeymoon.

It is always amusing to see what day Momma decides is my birthday any given year. That is really the only time she dealt me an arse chewing. Mostly she just calls me on the wrong day or completely forgets. I do feel a little bad about making her cry that day, but I was seriously mad about getting yelled at over nothing.

Kind of nice to know that I'm not the only one who received such treatment on a regular basis.
