The Friday before Mother's Day is National Public Gardens Day
Last night was Science Fair Night where Isaac goes to school. He took 2nd place again this year amongst the second graders for his ant farm model and report on ants. The winners were not posted by their projects and doesn't know the kid who took first in the model category. "I will find out tomorrow," he said to Mr. DS. "I need to know who I'm competing against, so I can do better next year." I'm thinking SERIOUSLY?!! He's such a nerd. I remember when it was all about FUN!

Okay, I'm ready for another vacation. I SO don't want to be here today. I'd rather be... well, I'd rather be saving turtles (or dolphins, or manatees). But I really need to get off my butt and do something about that, I'm now years behind my saving turtles plan. I still haven't completed step 1: take the SATs. I think I'm pretty solid in language and writing, but my math sucks, and math was my strong subject in school. I've forgotten how to do algebra. So I picked up a couple algebra books from the library and I'm reteaching myself high school math.
I do like manatees, although I must admit they're on the list because one of the schools I'd like to get my masters at is the University of South Florida, which is in a big manatee area. Also, there's an internship at Mote Aquarium that's right up my alley, saving turtles, dolphins, and manatees. But that's likely many years from now.
The South Florida Museum has a manatee named Snooty that comes up to them for food and will actually climb up on this ledge for them, he's absolutely adorable. In the wild, manatees live into their twenties, but Snooty (who's the only captive bred manatee) is 63!

I wonder if I'm thinking what you were thinking, because me too.
George will be here for Mother's Day. George used to be my friend, but I guess our friendship is getting old. He's always so unpredictable these days; shows up when he feels like it, sometimes he just suprises me and shows up out of nowhere, and stays for days.

Yay! I just finished up a project. I will deliver these doors and other things I made on my way home for lunch and get one customer off my back. He'll be happy to have his stuff so he can finish his project.
It's supposed to be a BEAUTIFUL day here. We're at 65 now and headed for 78 for a high. w00t!

My wife has a friend like that too. He used to come around quite regular, but now he's very sporadic. Sometimes his visit has almost no impact and other times he can be very disruptive.
What is it about these friends that make them get that way as they get older?
We are heading for a high temp of around 65* and sunny. I will take it. I just woke up and made myself a bowl of cereal and managed to take about 5 steps with the bowl before it slipped out my hands and sent milk, cereal, and fruit flying in multiple directions. I just realized my cleaning lady has the week end off, oh wait, I dont have a cleaning lady. CRAP! Now I have to clean it up. Hope thaat isnt an omen for the day.
DS, I dont recall being that driven in 2nd grade. I was pretty happy if my fly was zipped. Good for Isaac.
Mz, I think Miami also has about 53 dolphins in captivity from August until January every year. Miami usually has Marlins from March until September as well.
Web, glad you are checking things off the today list...and thank you for putting that silly song in my head. No, really.
Fuzzy, you have made it to the end of another week without murdering your co-workers...I am very proud of you.
It has been a week. I decided I was done around 12:30, so I'm at home now. I will participate in a 2:30 - 3:00 conference call, but otherwise I'm done.

Okay, that works too. My guess is that you don't have any change in your pockets. You won't have shorts on yet and a person doesn't usually keep change in his sweatpants pockets.
