It was hot at the track meet yesterday. It was close to a record at 91. Low 80's today, then back to normal low 70's for highs this time of year. The boy had fun, he and a friend got 3rd in the Three-legged Race.
I took about 250 pics during the day of Logan and his buddies that were doing the same events he was. I ended up using about 140 of them. I used the rapid shooting mode for things like the long jump and softball throw. That gave me 5-6 photos of every jump and throw, but it's kind of cool to cycle through them fast because it looks like a flip-book or stop-action video.
Trust me, it's easier to get back on a bike than it is to get back on roller skates. I went roller skating with my sister last year after not having skated for over 10 years. I strapped on the skates, stood up, and promptly fell. I barely made it around the rink. My sister was apologizing and laughing and apologizing for laughing. I used to be an awesome skater, I could skate backwards and do the limbo and everything. Apparently that's not something my body remembers.
Oh, yeah -- The good ol' days. We'd spend everyday in the summer from the time we got up until time to come home, skating town. Once a week we'd be at the "Roller Disco" burning up the floor

I'd love to get back into skating again. I'd love to do Roller Derby too, but even if I could get back up to snuff, the girls on our team here aren't really "my crowd."

What would your roller derby name be?
MzHurtz?
I've never come up with one that I like, but I really like that one. If I ever do get into roller derby, that's the name I'm going with.
Good afternoon, all. Today I seem to be the mook in the middle of conflicting orders. Since I can't get a straight answer out of the guy who really needs to decide what I am or am not to do in this case, I decided to deal with other things... like appliance shopping. Yup... this time the boy's air conditioner decided to quit. It is a window unit, so I've been looking for deals on those. I think I found one, but need to get the heck on up outta here to go see if the store really has it and probably check out the small appliance store near my house.
Anyhoo... I love being a mom. The day started with the following text exhange with the boy:
J: Ok, we can now put an armadillo on the list of animals I have wrestled.
Me: OMG! How did that happen? It didn't leave you with a black eye, did it?
J: Walker found it digging in the yard. No, but they are incredibly strong.
Me: Weird. You won the fight I presume?
J: Yep.
Me: Good job by you, son. Going to have it taxidermied?
J: He put up a helluva fight, I think he deserves his freedom. And I learned that they can jump 6 feet high!
Me: DANG! Yeah... wish that was on video. So it is a deer, a squirrel, a couple turkeys, and now an armadillo. I think you need your own TV show.
J: Don't forget the hawk. He was a formidable adversary.
Me: I knew I was missing one. You are cracking me up, son. I sure do love you. You are Ozark country's answer to Marlin Perkins.
(a few hours later... we've been discussing the AC situation in the mean time)
J: Now I'm trying to get the armadillo out of the cage but he's really mad. Its like trying to catch a rocket propelled bouncy ball with claws.
Me: LOL... Maybe just leave the cage where it is for a bit with the door open.
J: You know better than that. I prefer doing it the fun way. Besides, what could he possibly do?
Me: I dunno, sweetie... I've never tussled with an armadillo before.
I've heard from him a few times since, but probably need to get down there with the AC to make sure it turned out well.
