earth quake / 'canes

I'm sure some of you have seen the news , some bad stuff  for sure and I wouldn't

wish it on most .   That being said , here's my own observations ,

mudslides - aren't they the result of over cutting the forrests up stream ?

seems this has happened before and what do those people do ? keep cutting .

earthquake -  my heart (believe it or not ) does go out to the innocents but I gotta wonder

if it didn't take out a few of the bad guys (heres to hope ) ,

relief-  the President has pledged money , gee i didn't realize all the lights were back on

 in Dixie .

ya , give em the money , i was just wantin to hit a nerve and get

                             some  talk goin

We are a generous country...if there is a disaster somewhere around the globe...The US is probably going to help.

Alot of people think we should take care of business at home and let the world take care of itself...since Americans are hated by alot of other countries anyway.

But this country was founded on Christian principles and that whole turning the other cheek thing keep coming back to haunt us. I think one of the reasons the United States has been so blessed is because we are a generous nation. I think its called Karm or the law of reciprocation.

Corporate greed has caused alot of forrestation problems...no trees equals mud slides during rainy seasons.

Earthquakes are pretty much out of our control...chalk it up to Mother nature having a spasm or God showing us he still has a way of getting our attention. Where ever your belief system allows you to settle in. Although with all the underground nuke testing or other military technology we have no idea is being tested or utilized, who knows?

Good topic Dave

Dylan ,  (and all ) ,yes corp.s are greedy but the real blame lies with the consumer.

if people didn't buy lumber from S. America or Asia the problem would be solved .

as you know I'm in the construction world and it makes me sick when I hear OWNERS

and Builders talk about mahogany this and teak that with some redwood and cyrprus

thrown in for dessert .  this also includes our own dwindling hardwoods , cherry , black

oak etc.  it's like a status symbol with these people , like a BMW , cut down a 200 yr.

old tree and get just enough material to make a dining room set  ?  I can only hope that

the world will wake up to deforrestation problem and deal with it like it did  the  ivory

problem.

I am an Oak man myself...people will go to great lenghts to be different or have a status symbol...but you would think, at least in the US that there would be better tree and wildlife management in this country.

I remember watching a documentary on Yosemite and how poor land management had terrible consequences, but that was 100 years ago.  What have we learned?

I stand by my opinion that we're pissing Mother Nature off, either literally or figuratively. Society as a whole needs to be more environmentally aware.
