Wow, Ruby, you're right. It looks like it switched to display the top 40 of the whole year rather than past few weeks.

I think the list is pretty cool.   I had no idea that Stairway was more over-requested than Walk Tall, Through The Fire or Lonely No More

Even better, Stairway was just recently added a couple months ago, so to beat the others, it just proves it's been requested to death lately.

Hey guys, I'm trying to change the parameters of the top 40 every few days in the hopes of shaking things up a bit request wise. But that damn Stairway song is in the top five no matter how I cut it :(

Gettin' a LOT of complaints lately about repitition. I might have to take some drastic steps for a short while. Like cutting requests down to one every half hour, or making it so a song can only be requested once per 24 hours.

I'm also considering rotating some of the more abused songs off the list for a short period.

i think the 1 in 24 hr idea is best of choices given , followed by editing the list

as a way distant 2nd , no debbie for me , no chaka for cp = at least 1 unhappy guy

I will have you know that I am not now, nor have I ever been, a Donny Osmond fan!

Although "Soldier Of Love" wasn't bad.

Yeah, I like that Will Smith keeps it clean. Nice to see a young guy doing that in the movies and music.

Riggs the only thing I see wrong with once every 24 hours is that is when we get to hear it. The same song everyday once a day. I like idea #2. Take it for what that is worth. It is your baby and I hate to tell you what to do.

There are 7,000 songs here. I still don't understand why constant repetition is frequent. Is repetition not the reason that most of us left commercial radio? I am truly confused.

Too bad you can't designate certain songs to be in the once in a 24 (or even 48!) hour period. That way, anything in the top 40 couldn't be played more than once a day.

I don't understand it either Fuzzy.

But it's been that way since we started this thing, even BEFORE the Top 40 list was shown.

People just get into a rut of wanting to hear "their" song everyday. And the thing is, you only need maybe 10 songs to be replayed each day to feel like you're just hearing the same thing day after day.

I mean, I know even I get into a groove where I want to hear a song a lot in the span of a week or two, but these folks that request a song every day for three months blow my mind.

Then again, I don't know WHO'S requesting a song, I suppose it's possible that some songs are popular enough that in fact it's not the same person every day, just a lot of different people requesting it.

Then there's the other issue, you guys listen A LOT! which is COOL! Don't go changing now! But when you listen to a station for 8 to 10 hours a day, five days a week or more, I suppose you're gonna hear the same stuff a lot.

I'm giving serious consideration to going to the "once every 24 hours" for a song, but you all will get A LOT of "This song has recently played" when trying to request and may find it very frustrating.

I think we are all guilty of requesting the same old stuff from time to time but thats why we love this station, we get to choose the music and I wouldn't want to change that, I wouldn't mind the request going down to one song every 30 mins though, that would be fine.

I hardly ever make any requests during the week days. About the only time I do is first thing when I get in so I have a chance of hearing them. It seems that requests made past 2:00pm rarely play before 5:00 now. But, that's a good thing, it means the station is popular and people are using the system.

Yeah, I usually only request 2-4 songs a day. Usually 2 in the morning, but sometimes I'll come back from lunch and just *have* to hear a song.

Actually Web, you raise a good point.

I've been considering dropping the limit to 1 every 30 minutes because we have a larger audience now and as you said it can take 3 hours to hear your song.

Obviously it's different when you have 40 people requesting 2 songs every 30 minutes than it is when you have 120 requesting songs every 30 minutes.

Theoretically, cutting the limit to 1 could cut the wait time in half.

I think we'll probably try that route, but maybe have special days where you can request more, and at night I can always raise the limit too.

I don't do too much requesting during the work day. Just every now and then if I have a feeling. But when everybody disappears in the evening and there is nothing in the cue and I am listening to the system pull the tunes, I will look for something then. Lately that hasn't happened too much. And that is good because it means people are requesting what they want to hear - even if it takes a while to hear it.
