Have I told you about my new pedometer? It's the Switch 2 Health Step. For every 10,000 steps, I get 60 points that I can turn in for prizes. They have stuff to choose from like a free DVD, Amazon gift certificates, Sears and Kmart coupons, etc. I've seen Barnes & Noble gift certificates on there before too. (The prizes change all the time.)
Usually when I walk to work, I listen to standup comedy. It's more about getting me in a good mood than helping with the heart rate. But for pleasure walks, I need some more upbeat stuff. But when I went to switch to music last night, my mind went blank.
I saw another thing sort of like this. An APP where they give you prizes for exercising. Seems like a good idea, though I'm not sure what the company running it gets out of it. I'll have to check out the website.
Erasure is excellent walking music. Also John Cougar Mellencamp.

I'm not a fan of "The Coug" (what some locals around here call him). I used to like some of his stuff, until I moved to his stomping grounds. I have lots of friends in the services businesses (waiters, cashiers, etc.), and have heard many first hand accounts of him not treating the wait staff that well. He doesn't have a very good reputation among the locals around here. Also, in all the recent interviews I've heard from him, he came off as very pretentious. All of that with the fact that his music gets overplayed around here has just turned me off. I've never met him myself, so I'm reserving final judgement, but I don't really enjoy his music anymore.
Our ex-roommate's ex-wife turned me off of Bad Company a little bit too. Long story short, she was a Bad Company groupie back in the day, and she screwed my friend over. So now I can't hear Bad Company without thinking about her. Luckily, I have many pleasant memories associated with Holy Water in particular, including many dates with my husband, that put the balance back in my favor. It's not Bad Company's fault whatsoever (well, maybe Bucket's for sleeping with the, er, um, you-get-my-point [if what she says is true]), but it does taint my enjoyment a bit.
I have not met him, although I had such a realistic dream once where I was spending time with him, I almost feel like I did. I understand the overplayed bit. So... I guess Erasure would be my suggestion.
