The Cardinals OWN you. Now you're gonna lose in the first round. And while the Card's played us well down the stretch, we've had their number for the last two years, so it looks like it's World Series time for Milwaukee!
Speaking of which. There's a big pep-rally tonight at 5 PM down on the Summerfest grounds. ALL the players are going to be there. Wanna go as my +1?
I believe the Phils wanted to set the new club all time win mark in a season. Of course, had they not gone on an 8 game losing streak they would have done that last week and the Braves probably would have had a better shot at winning all three games. But if you looked at who played last night, most of the starters did. I think it was an accident the Phillies won. Very dramatic though.
While playing the Diamondbacks may have been better, I think the Phillies are now ready to kick the Cardinals' ass. String them along all year and beat them when it counts. We'll see you guys in Philly for game 1 of the NLDS on October 9th. And have I mentioned lately that your Brewers don't play well on the road?

Well. There's no denying that the Phillies are a battle-tested playoff team and I don't think their performance during the season against one team or another matters diddly squat now.
You guys could have ended the season on a 15 game losing streak and you'd still be the last team I'd want to face in the playoffs and that INCLUDES all the A.L. teams.
You're the best team in the post-season and based on talent and experience should win it all.
That being said, I am hoping against hope that the Cards take you down so we don't have to face you AND we get home-field advantage throughout.
It'll be interesting to see what happens in the AL. The Rays are on a tear. So are the Tigers. I think the Yankees could be easily beaten. They've sbeen struggling too. It was more the Red Sox falling apart that gave them the strength to finish with the division title.

True. The Cards and Rays played so hard. Part of my hope is that the Cards are mentally exhausted too.
I can't believe that the Braves had 10.5 lead on 8/26. And it took to the last day to lose everything. 9-18 in September. Wow.
The Rays had to play tough teams the last two-three weeks to get their spot. They played a lot of games against the Yankees and Red Sox.
It is amazing that we had one team in each league collapse this year. I'll bet this had to be one of the tightest wild card races. I know the Phils were involved in a few, but they were always close, nothing like 10 games from behind.

Yeah, a month ago people were saying "well, it CAN happen, remember the Rockies big run a few years ago?"
But after this year, I don't think ANYONE will feel completely out of it on September 1'st anymore.
I don't know much about the Braves, but a couple of their good starting pitchers were out the whole month weren't they? That had to make a big difference if true. You also have to wonder if having Bobby Cox there would have made a difference. Even if he got them to win one extra game, they'd still be playing.
Well at least they can hang their hats on that then.
You never like to make excuses, but losing your two best pitchers is huge. Surely they would't have lost their entire lead if those two guys were healthy.
