Hey there! I'm still here. D, I will give you a call this evening.
Yep... I leave tomorrow. By this time tomorrow I'll be at O'Hare waiting to get on the flight to India. I should be getting there at approximately 3:15AM Central US time on Thursday. Probably not going to be making any phone calls at that hour, but I will get me on the internet and update here and on FB. Return is set for the 28th... should be in around 11AM Central US.
I'm starting to get pretty anxious about it. Not sure if I will sleep tonight or not. I'm going to try.
I will definitely miss you all! I should be able to check in from time to time during the day hours here since that is when I will be at the hotel and will have more unrestricted internet access.

Greetings from Noida, India! It was a very long, but uneventful flight. I didn't sleep at all on the plane. Did manage to sleep for about 4 hours last night, so for now I'm not too bad on the jet lag. I'm told it will hit hard about Sunday.
The hotel is very nice. It does have one oddity that I've never encountered anywhere else... after you unlock your room door, you have to leave your keycard in a slot on the wall to keep the electricity turned on in your room. There are also random power outages which usually last for about 15 seconds. If you have ever seen pictures of the electrical lines in India, that is not surprising. On the drive to the office this morning, I believe I saw the intersection that others have dubbed "Cow Corner"... lots of cows just hanging out.
The peeps were certainly happy to see us. We got loved up a whole lot. They even included Little Man in the office birthday celebration since his was just a few days ago. We already have a full day of site-seeing on tap for tomorrow, and probably more on Sunday if we are awake.
I'll post some pictures later when I get them downloaded from my camera.

Hi all! Mz... the time difference is pretty big. Noida is 10 1/2 hours ahead. 9 1/2 for the Eastern Time Zone people.
We went out for most of the afternoon and evening yesterday to see some of the sites in Delhi. Saw India Gate, the Indian Parliament buildings, Lotus Temple, Delhi Haat, Connaught Place. Lots of interesting stuff to see. We are going shopping some more today. A couple of our local friends went with us, which was extremely helpful... the thing you may have heard about needing to negotiate with the shop keepers is very real. Shobhit and Abhishek are really good at it too. We were told that whatever the starting price the shopkeeper quotes is at least twice as much as what they will really take. Of course, the price also goes up for fair skinned people. We did get some lovely scarves and other trinkets for not a lot of money. All said and done, I probably spent $150 and I bought 4 shawls (silk/pashmina blend), 4 silk scarves, a wall hanging, and about 7 other trinkets.
We are going out shopping and site seeing again today. I think more places in New Delhi. If you have FB, check out the pictures I loaded out there.
The jet lag hit me pretty hard last night. I slept really well after a good shower I slept like a rock!
