It's concert day here. "Seventh Day Slumber" is arriving today with "Cory Lamb" opening. You've likely not heard of them, but SDS is quite popular in the Christian Rock genre. The lead singer has a very powerful story. He was in bad shape with drugs and then turned it around.
It's going to be a busy day. Because we got such a good deal on getting them here, we have to provide volunteers to help. We will start "load in" about 11:00. After we get things loaded in, a few of us will hang around with the band to be "runners" etc for them. It will be a busy day, but it will be fun to watch/help set up the stage and band.
We are hoping for a good turn out. If this concert goes well and is well received, there is talk of staring an independent organization to begin setting up and promoting more area youth-centered events.
The concert starts at 6:30. I'm on the list to help with "security" and then we will help "load out" after it's over and the band will take off and head on out to California for the next event.
They are promoting this as a "Small Town America" tour to give towns like ours a chance to get such an event.
That sounds like a cool gig Web! You'll have fun being a roadie for a day.
I hate Adobe. They're worse than Microsoft about not being backwards compatible. I've been working on upgrading to CS5.5 for the past 24 hours. Supposedly, I'm 31 minutes away from it being fully installed.
Good morning y'all Yesterday was really stressful for me. Not so much at work, but because my kids are causing me to die a slow and painful death. If anyone is interested, I'm up for adoption..
Hope you have a fun time, Web. I really like the concept of the "Small Town America" tour.

Sometimes I print "birth mother letters" for couples looking for open adoptions. Open adoptions are for when the moms are pregnant but know they can't take care of a child, so they arrange for adoption before the baby is born. Then the birth mom is still involved in the child's life as it grows up. To choose who the adoptive parents will be, the agency gives the moms these handouts that have pictures and information about the prospective parents.
It started with one couple that are friends with my boss. They eventually ended up adopting twins! I've designed a few more letters since theirs. Today I got this letter:
"Michelle, We adopted an adorable little girl in May. When we visited the birth mom in the hospital, she had our birth mother letter hanging in her hospital room window. Maybe this round of birth mother letters worked some magic. Thanks for being a part of our joyous journey. We'll bring her by some day on an outing."
The concert is going to be cool. The bands are all here and getting set up.
I had to laugh . . . we got the two warm up bands unloaded and they said we still a minimum of two hours and possibly three to get the main band unloaded. It took us about 45 minutes. Apparently they are not used to having a bunch of Nebraska farmers come help with the load in.
