From what I have read, if you are elderly, you might need it. But I do not think it is necessary for all. I guess I am old fashioned. Plus no one is sticking a needle in me if it is not 100% necessary!
A couple years ago, my wife's work decided to pay for all employees and family to get flu shots. They figured it would be worth the cost to not have people out sick or home with sick family.
Same here, I'm a healthy twenty something with 8 sick days left this year alone, I don't need a flu shot. If I get the flu, I'll live. Plus, the flu shot doesn't guarantee that you're not going to get the flu. And, there always seems to be a shortage, so I'll leave the flu shots for the people who need them.
