Ruby, I shall always remain the disembodied voice you hear on the radio. Like a throwback to the old days when the mental image you formed in your head of the DJ was what he/she remained to you.
The only photo's I'll ever post are from age 5 or younger (which coincidentally are the last time anyone said I was cute )
The therapy bills are piling up here in Wisconsin
I enjoy that some of the listeners post photo's of themselves and their families, it's nice to put a face with the names, but I'm telling you honestly it just amazes me that they're willing to do that.
I guess I'm wired different, I can't fathom putting that stuff on the public internet.
Besides that, if something ever goes horribly wrong with the station and I make a psychotic enemy, I'd rather they not know my name, where I live and what I look like.
I guess I do not see a harm in posting pictures of us. I will not live my life in fear of what someone might do. There are millions of risky situations that we could get into at any given moment, so to let something bother me like someone seeing my picture and fearing what they might do is not worth it. I have a friend who spends far too much time worrying about what could happen that her and her kids suffer. She does not "live" life! So if posting my pix and Emily's put's me in harm's way then so be it, I will throw caution to the wind.
I have been stalked by two men in the past and had to learn that you cannot let what one does ruin your life. So lighten up Riggs and let us see how cute you are!!
I don't have a problem with posting a photo, I will find a good one to post, I would take one now but I look rough need a shave and my hair isn't looking great!
I understand your point JR, especially where you are the station owner. You also get a lot more exposure on the "air" than we do here in the forum.
I don't worry too much about posting pictures here in the forum mainly because of the size of the forum. How many DIFFERENT people view this forum every day? I'm sure there are a few visitors that stop by to check it out. Of those few, what are the chances that one of them is that unstable?
I believe that I have more risk of the potential wierd-o's here in my own small town then I do by posting a pic in this forum.
I used to have family pics on my personal site that were just in a directory that was not linked from any pages to "hide" it a little. That way, I could give other family memebers the address and they could keep up with our son's activities.
Google found that directory and one day I was checking logs and found where someone came into that directory by searching for "cute little boy pictures". That made me think enough to password protect the directory after that. That concerned me more because that same site had our address, phone number, etc listed. It would have been very easy for that person to find the boy in the pic.
I'm more concerned about posting my real name and/or address here than a pic. I know that if you went back through all my posts, a stranger could piece enough together to find me now, but it would take some work if you haven't been here reading all the threads for the last few months.
So, yes, I agree there is a risk in posting pics here in the forum. Given the nature and size of this forum, I feel that risk is very small. I think that I wonder if the real threat may be sitting at the table next to us in a restaurant, the gas station attendent, or the guy across the street. You just never know.
I respect your decision JR but I agree with Ruby and Web. We as just forum members are probably more at risk from day to day contacts. Our front desk has a panic button because there have been times when someone came in that was out of control or became that way. Being rejected for housing can flip some people over the edge.
I understand why Mz has no problem posting her pic or personal information. Due to her current and previous jobs, her picture and busniess contact information is widespread on the internet already. At her last job, she worked with some potentially unstable people, so she had more of a risk there than she does putting her picture on the forum here. In her current job, both her contact information and picture are out there. If she starts worrying about her ID on a forum, she'll definately stress out about it everywhere else it may be!
I think most people know my real first name by now because I've slipped a couple times (it's Jim), but Riggs is a phoney name too.
Perhaps one day I'll post a photo. I need to get in better shape though before I'm willing to go national The truth is I know the risk is pretty small, but I've always been kind of shy by nature anyway, it's just not me to put that stuff out there.
Now though, you guys almost feel like family, so I may change my attitude on that some day.
All I can say is that If I am still able to make it to Milwaukee and Indiana that unless you plan on wearing a Penguin suit in 90 degree weather That you will have to show yourself when We all meet there!!! bwahahahahahahahhahahaha
Riggs is really an elderly Chinese man....he is an acredited accupunture healer and stays fit with Tai chi, and even Tae bo...he has even been known to Tae one on.
He used to be in the car wash business...Ling Chow's Wax on-wax off, but his english was not so good and there were alot of misunderstandings.
Today, he currently runs an internet radio station so that he can play Kung Fu Fighting when ever he wishes.
So as you can see Riggs is not so mysterious after all.
Well , well, well...I take some time away to watch a ball game and I come back to see you two plagarizing my plagarized sayings....cant a guy steal a good line without having to hire body guards and living in a gated community to protect them?
