I got some good writing done this weekend. I'm acquiantances with one of the head 3D movie guys at IU. He heard about some of the stories I'm putting in this book and expressed interest in making some 3D shorts out of some of them. That would be cool, but we'll see what happens.
Good day, all! Happy Monday, hope it is going well for everyone.
I had a pretty decent weekend. The weather was nice, so I spent quite a bit of it outside working on the house. I'm very pleased to report that it got painted this weekend! I still need to do some painting on the trim, but got a major boost from my brother. He managed to borrow a commercial grade paint sprayer from one of his buddies and decided to come over and help me out. Got the new stuff all painted (with a second coat too), and did a second coat on what was already painted. It only took about 5 hours in total, including drying time and another trip to Home Depot for more paint.
My task of this morning was sorting out how much vacation time I have left to use before the end of the year. Believe it or not, I still have 13.5 days! I've got it all scheduled out except for a day and a half which I'm hanging onto so I can attend my nephew's sentencing date if that comes up between now and the end of the year.
So speaking of the nephew... as if he doesn't already have enough legal woes, I'm told that he has at least 3 more charges, unrelated to his current predicament, that he is going to be hit with. I tried to look online to see if I could see what those were, but they are not listed on the Missouri courts website just yet. I'm not sure how it all works, but while sitting in the county lock up he missed a court date for the unrelated charges, so now there are apparently 3 further warrants for his arrest. Seems odd to me that the courts didn't pick up on the fact that he is presently incarcerated as it is all in the same county. None the less... it is astounding to me how one kid could jack up his life so profoundly. He has a next appearance on his major charges on the 17th, so I will likely go to that. I'd kind of like to see him before the send him off to the big house. My understanding thus far is that visiting him at his present location would be difficult at best as he is being kept in segregation for his own safety since his dad was a county police officer for many years and there are likely people in the jail that he had unhappy dealings with.
Very cool for you, Mz... I hope that works out for you. It would be awesome to have your stories made into videos!

So I'm still getting over this sickness. Last week, when I was really feeling sick, it was a lot of being stuffed up and sore throat, perhaps with some sneezing. It was definitely a head cold, I wasn't really coughing or anything. Now that I feel better, it's draining from my throat, which is making me cough a lot of lose my voice. I keep having to cough every time I take a phone call, so I hold it in, then have a coughing fit as soon as I get off the phone.
The Etch just walked in and said, "You look like you're feeling better. I haven't heard you coughing this week."
So wait, first of all, does that mean she heard me coughing last week, when I wasn't? Does she know what a cough sounds like?
Howdy folks. It's a rainy day in the Tulsa metro, but the temp is supposed to warm up to 70ish. In case y'all missed it, we made the NY Times http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/07/us/oklahoma-earthquake-sets-a-record.html Maranda woke me up at 2:20 am Saturday wondering if we felt the first one (didn't), then that evening around 10:55 came the second one. I've never experienced one, so it was almost exciting, although, I wouldn't want to experience a big one. At first I thought the boys were rough-houseing in the bedroom, then I realized what it was. It was weird because I could hear it "approaching" -- think of a train coming your way from a distance, then passing you... Near as we didn't have any damage at home, but other people closer to the epicenter had some structural damage.

That's what it was like when we had one a few years ago. At first I thought it was a tornado. Because what else in Indiana would shake my bed enough at 6:30 in the morning?
Mema, that's too bad about your nephew. I agree, it's amazing that the court system isn't more connected. We have a local health provider here that's proudly advertising they're the first in the area to link all your medical records and have your different doctors be able to see your medical history with a few keystrokes. It always shocked me that this wasn't already standard.
Disco, glad to hear you're ok and didn't have any damage. They were talking about it on the local news last night and some people had some fairly significant damage to their homes it looked like.
MZ, I like the completion bar. Cool new feature for them to have added!
Fuzzy, TONIGHT I'll be rooting for your Eagles (though not watching). After tonight, it's back to being enemies!
Scooter, you're strangely absent from the thread. Have you fallen down a well? Should we send help?
Monday it is! I'm hurting from running a half marathon yesterday. I didn't plan on it but, my friend signed up for the race and just recently started having a sore ankle and decided not to run. I took her place. If I had ran a minute faster, I would have qualified in the top three women age 44-49
Creepy, hey?
Later.
