At noon, I take my last antibiotic. I am totally having a glass of wine tonight.
My sister's coming to visit this weekend! I'm sure she'll spend most of her time with her friends, but it'll still be nice to see her. Although I'm realizing that I tend to go to a lot of bars. Not typical bars, but more bars that serve food and seem more like a restaurant. But that stinks, because I can't take my sister along. I'm totally taking her to the gay bar when she turns 21.
Good day, all. Well, it is a much better day now...
So I was driving in this morning and I get to a stop light at an intersection about 3 1/2 miles from my house... sitting there, waiting for the light to change, when I look in the rear view mirror and notice that someone's vehicle is smoking like a freight train. As I'm thinking, "Wow... that sucks. I wonder what's up with that?" I look out the windshield and I notice that it is MY VEHICLE smoking like a freight train. I turned onto the cross street and off to the shoulder. While I'm making this maneuver, I hear on the radio that the forecast changed overnight from 55* and rainy to low 30's and snow. As I'm popping the hood and noting that it seems my heater hose valve has shot craps, it starts snowing. Not just pretty little snowflakes either, mind you... it is coming down in snowball form. NIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE. Anyhoo, called the boss, called Little Man, called the friend I have plans with after work... then called Kev to come get me. He finally shows up and we decide that with a couple vise grips and a jug of water we could limp me truck back to the house and fix it later. Right about then I also decide that since sunny later in the day and 55* is NOT happening, I probably ought to give up on the short sleeved shirt and open toed shoes.
Rolled into the office at about 10:40AM after renting me a car. Somehow when the lady and I discussed something Camry sized, I didn't think I would end up in a Corolla... but hey... it goes back tomorrow. At the office we are in the middle of changing from my former employer's building security system over to my present employer's security system. This means that at present I have to use one badge to get through the front door, then a different badge to get from the visitor portion of the lobby to the elevator portion of the lobby. What a pain. Got in here and noticed that I left my lunch bag in the car... so I went back out. Got just outside the front door and remembered that I need to go back and get the key to the rental wreck as unlike my truck, I can't just use a keyless entry code.
Finally get settled and decide that I need to tackle a lack of access issue I learned about yesterday. Seems that I can't open what is known as a "Clickit ticket" on my new computer as I don't have the right permissions in the HP Service Manager site. Ironically, I must open a Clickit Ticket to get my access fixed. Fortunately, my old computer still works from the office for a few more days, so I was able to open it on that one. Hoping they fix this under my correct user ID for my current employer. 2 tickets later, I think they might actually be trying to get me up & running. For the record, my first ticket was closed with the comment "Everything looks right except for all the stuff that is missing". NO S#!T, Sherlock! That is why I opened the ticket... CUZ THE MISSING STUFF JUST LIKE IT SAYS IN THE "PROBLEM DESCRIPTION" FIELD!
Happily, this day is almost over. Boss told me to forget about the coming in a couple hours late. In a little while here I'm going to log out and go get ready for a friend's 40th birthday party/ dinner. We are going to a Japanese steakhouse, then drinks at one of the local hotels. I'm not about to get a DUI, so I'm just going to stay at the hotel. Tomorrow the kids are coming up to see me and show me their new (to them) car, and I suspect I'll be fixing my truck. Tomorrow night, another friend's 35th birthday party... again... probably staying at her house. Should be a good weekend.
Hope everyone else had a great day, cuz to this point I haven't.
