Ah yes. Giving thanks for the short Thanksgiving week. Here's to a great week and nice long weekend. Monday doesn't seem so bad this week and better yet, Hump day is tomorrow!!!!
Yep! I've already seen Goblet of Fire twice.... I went to the midnight showing Thursday night to preview it before I took my 7 year old daughter so I'd know which parts to cover her eyes last night. I think it's my favorite so far...
I went to see it yesterday. I actually have a hard time watching the movies after reading the books. Especially with Goblet of Fire because it seemed so stripped down to me.
And I recognized several of the voices in Happy Feet as Robin Williams, so I can't wait to see it!
For those who haven't seen the movie... slight spoiler ahead....
I agree with the movie missing lots... I mean, they didn't even start at the Dursleys this time! Yes, there was definitely a lot missing since they decided to keep it to one movie and not divide it like they should have.
My biggest gripe was not indicating that Ron's biggest irritation about Harry entering the Cup tournament was the money involved... knowing Harry had a Gringott account FULL of money and Ron being dirt poor, that's what irked him the most. They didn't even mention that in the movie... it's going to make it doubly confusing later since Harry gives the prize money to the twins to start their joke shop venture!
But taking in the movie as if I hadn't read the books, I thought it was very well done. I like to use the difference between the two as an example to my daughter for WHY we read the books in the first place.
They didn't even mention there being any moeny involved. I understand they were cutting down on time, but really that would've just taken a couple words. I was also disappointed that they left Winky and Dobby out. I mean, come on, would Neville really have stolen something from Snape?
Yes, that was the other big irritation for me, but especially my daughter, who really enjoyed Winky the most in the book! And you're right, Neville wouldn't have stolen anything - they were sort of vague about how he got that stuff... Whether he obtained it from Mad Eye who stole it from Snape while stealing the polyjuice ingredients.
I wonder if they get any sort of ok from the author when they do the screenplay - I mean, what if the house elf thing and the joke shop are more integral to the plot than the director realizes? How is he going to know how it'll all playout in book 7? or how important the joke shop was in book 6?
Technically, I think they are only contracted for 5 movies, so the director may not be looking ahead of that. I think JK Rowling does have a say in the movie, though.
Please don't worry about me, I won't be around much today. There are bigwigs in from CA and guess who has to spend the day with them. This is not going to be pretty.
Don't party too much while I am missing.

I'm home with the boy again today. I'll probably work on Friday.
Mrs. Web has to work at the bank so I might as well go in to work too. Might slip home a little early though to watch the Huskers get beaten up by Colorado Friday afternoon.
