Howdy, another day watching the phone. You would think after sending your resume to a thousand places, two might call. Nothing like competing with a bunch of over qualified under employed people. I will continue pursuing my creative stuff. Can't get rich doing it but, can keep out of trouble.
Have a great day all. Mz, good look with the blood stuff.

Good day, all. It has been a crazy several days, but I'm finally getting settled a bit. I took Friday off thinking I was going to work on the fascia for my guttering... my brother was supposed to come over and help me assess what needed to be replaced, then help do the work. After much negotiation and a check of the weather forecast, we agreed on Monday. Hence my 3-day weekend became a 4 day weekend with an option on yesterday. Since my first plan for Friday fell through, I decided to get cracking on cleaning the house for Easter since I was hosting the family get-together. Good thing I did that since Saturday took an unexpected turn...
Saturday I got up to get busting on the rest of the carpet cleaning. Kev met me in the hallway just outside my bedroom door and informed me that I needed to go get new "innards" for the toilet in his bathroom as it has been running for quite some time and he has been unsuccessful in getting it to stop. This is the toilet that I had to replace a few years back because I was trying to "re-gut" it back then and ended up breaking the tank while trying to remove the flush handle. Not really what I wanted to have to do, but okay... so I go to Home Depot, get the appropriate repair kit, and head back to the house to get going on this. According to the directions on the box, it should only take me about 10 minutes to swap this stuff out. Riiiiiiight. Takes me over an hour to fight a cross-threaded nut off of the water valve unit. (Not my fault...this toilet came pre-assembled) By this juncture, it is no stretch to say I have lost my temper. The fact that Kev is standing there nagging at me doesn't help... but I got the other parts out and assessed that I would in fact have to replace the flush handle as well. Kev jumps in and says, "You had better let me help you with that part. OBVIOUSLY you are already irritated and we sure don't need you breaking ANOTHER toilet. Honestly, I don't know what made you think a pipe wrench was a good idea. For a smart woman, you sure do some dumb things sometimes." I resisted the urge to stab him in the eyeball with a wrench and stepped aside. Several minutes worth of cussing later, all Kev has succeeded in doing is breaking 2 parts of the flush handle off (in retrospect this should have been a warning), but the remainder is still securely attached to the tank. So he stomps off to get "the right tools to get this done". He comes back with 2 pairs of visegrips. What could possibly go wrong here? Right as he is saying, " I should just say F$%& IT and go get the cutoff wheel and zip this thing apart.", I hear a very familiar SNAP. yup... there he sits with the corner of the tank in one hand and a visegrip in the other, and a stunned expression which rapidly turns to stark fear as he turns to look at me. All I can say is, "HA! BWA-HA-HA-HA! NICE MOVE THERE VINNIE VISEGRIPS! Wanna crank on me again about the pipe wrench? I didn't think so! And for the record, it was sooooo much funnier and more stylish when I did it." . Soooo... back to the Home Depot. I made him go with me and stand there with a hang-dog look while I picked out the new throne. The dude who works in the plumbing area was completely amused by the scene, most especially when he first walked up and asked Kev if there was something he could help him with and all he did was point at me. Anyhoo... got it home and installed in short order. According to the information that came with my new American Standard Cadet 3 toilet, it is capable of flushing a bucket of golf balls. I don't happen to have a bucket of golf balls so I have not tested the theory, but I was pondering it aloud. Kev nervously informed me that he is larger than a bucket of golf balls so I wouldn't be able to make him fit. I tried to bet him $5 that I could... he declined. Ah well...
Sunday was the family Easter deal. It was fun. Egg hunt and dinner with most of my locally based family members. Marley was a little disappointed that she couldn't find the bunny that gave her all of those eggs, but it sure was fun watching her look for him.
On Monday we finally got around to inspecting the fascia. Caught me a big break there. Once the old guttering was off, all we had to do was scrape and paint the existing boards. I'm still working on getting bids for the gutters to be replaced. Hoping to have that all done in the next couple weeks.
Yesterday was just catching up at the office. Today, not much going on. I'm patiently waiting for 4:30 when I go meet the BFF to hang out for a while.
Hope everybody has a great day!

It has been a day. But it has been that kind of week. There are papers everywhere. There are emails back and forth. There have been phone calls that I don't want. Yesterday morning when I woke up I thought I didn't feel too well. But I thought it was a combination of being here late Monday and then doing the 4.5-5 hours of sleep thing. The day dragged on and I felt the same and even a little worse. I am pretty sure I was running a fever from the late afternoon onward. I can't help but wonder if I am headed for a cold. Naturally, it would be a very bad time to have a cold. Last night I left here later than I wanted to, again, went home and an hour later took my freezing body to bed. Was up a few times through out the night, but I slept okay. I do feel better today. Still have a sore throat so we'll see if I am just dry or if I am in trouble.
Get back to work.

Mema, that sucks that you still had to get a new toilet. That reminds me of the time Brian couldn't figure out how to fix our toilet. He ended up saying that the toilet was fine and that I just didn't flush right. I'm sure you can imagine how I took that. And yes, I fixed the toilet.

I didn't want to spend the money or the time right then, but oddly I'm not really upset about. I was planning to eventually replace it again anyway, but had planned to do the one in my bathroom first. At least I know that what I got is a decent one and will likely buy another just like it for my bathroom.
Good job by you for fixing it. I find it is just flat out easier to replace one of those than it is to try to fix.

In that case, it was a simple easy fix. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was something like shortening the chain or changing the height the bulb sat at. Didn't even need any tools.
