The temp is supposed to drop as the day goes on here too. I'm glad the weather was fairly decent for the Krampus walk on Saturday night.
Yes, a Krampus walk, it was awesome. The Krampus are the opposite of St. Nick. Where St. Nick gives the good boys and girls toys, the Krampus goes after the naughty boys and girls with switches, takes their presents and replaces them with coal, and steals the bad children. We have a nice paved walking trail through town where the old railroad used to be. We have friends that do masks and special effects for horror movies, and they made the Krampus masks and costumes. They started at the north end of the trail where it's all wooded and it ended up turning into this huge parade where these big Krampuses (Krampi?) stood above the heads of the crowd. Angels handed out stickers, and you could choose whether you wore a Nice or Naughty sticker. Nice stickers got you candy. Naughty stickers got you chased by a Krampus, growled at, and threatened with switches. I thought there might be some scared kids there, but the kids loved it! They would run up to a Krampus and yell, "I'm naughty, I'm naughty," so the Krampus would chase after them. There was also a guy with fire whips that performed in a big area where they had everyone stand off to the side. It went even better than I think anyone expected, and it turned out really awesome.
I put our former in-ear monitor system from church up on the Ebay and that ended last night. Today, I've sent a couple boxes off, still waiting on one payment before sending another, and talking with another guy who's interested in in the biggest lot that didn't sell. I hope this all ends well with no scamming and loss of church assets involved.
Good day, all! It is another cold one here in KS. Not quite as cold as what Web has been dealing with, but still... 18* is dang chilly. Just counted it out on the calendar and I have a whopping 6 1/2 workdays left of the year.
Otherwise, not a lot going on just yet, but then again I'm not really all that awake yet either. I spent a couple hours last night sorting out all of the nonsense that needed to be updated on my computer to make it work from home. I'm sure glad these major upgrades don't happen all that often.
Anyhoo... hope everybody has a great day!

Morning all. I had an 8:30 meeting this morning. You know I didn't like that. The only time I am here before 8:30 is during the summer when there is no traffic and the sun is up before me. I left the house at 6:50 and I rolled in here at 8:05. I made better time than I thought. Had it been still raining it would have been worseYou guys can keep the cold weather. It is 40* ish here now. I assume the cold weather will be headed my way.
I just looked and I also have 6 1/2 workdays left this year.

Even though Mema is higing all her stabby objects, as long as you promise not to stab me, I will supply you with more stabby objects.

All I need is a Sharpie. And you guys are pretty safe, as long as you don't ask me to do your work for you and then nag me when it's not done yet.

I'll promise to not do that. And yes, I completely sympathize. Many a day someone needs to disarm me.

Oh. I thought you had time to do my work too. I' offer you a cookie or two, but right now I am not sure you can have anything I have made so far this year. Maybe. I seem to forget. Why do I think you can't have eggs? I know you can't have corn products.
I'll just make you some fudge this weekend.

I don't know how you do it every day. Yesterday since I was in at 8 I wanted to be out of here by 5, no later than 5:30. There was voting for club officers last night and I had to be there by 7 to vote. Damn boss. I left here at 7:15. I am so not happy about these extra hours this week with him here. And I feel like we haven't accomplished a thing.

I'm good at telling my boss any time it looks like I might be pressured into staying later than I want, "I need to be out of here by XXX because I have another comittment." Then later, "Sorry, I have to go, this will have to wait until tomorrow or email, or else I'll be late." I mean, really, as long as it is after your working hours, you're allowed to have a personal life.
I was looking at the Nebraska job site a few days ago just to see what is out there. One of them looked interesting to me: DISH Network Technician
The job would basically be DISH installation and service. I know out here, it would mean some traveling, but they provide a van and all expenses. I thought "I might be good at that with my knowledge of audio/visual, electronics, internet/computers, and construction." I also thought that would be more, steady income which would make Mrs Web happy, and I'd be gone a lot which would also make Mrs Web happy.
I talked to a guy who is an independent DISH dealer to see if he knows anything about what a corporate tech job is like. He said he asked around and checked into it once and he said that the pay is not great, or bad, but the worst thing is that you are constantly on call. He said it's normal to get an email at 9:00pm on Saturday night telling you that you have a service appointment 120 miles away at 9:00am on Sunday morning. It also doesn't matter what the weather is like, you're there on time, or you either don't get paid, or are fired.

Doesn't sound like the job for me.
That's similar to what I've heard about cable and satellite installation around here.

That is another reason I told him I am not doing the hours the first four months of the year. I told him I needed to go get a second job where I would be paid to work those hours so I can keep my house. I don't know if he actually believes I won't do it.

We have security officer opening in Beatrice, Bellevue, Fairmont, Lincoln, Omaha. While I cannot promise great money, there wouldn't be travel involved. I know most of these places are probably not close to you.

Oh, I so would do that if I could get my foot in the door anywhere. No one wants me. My next attempt is to write my duties and my additional work up (again) and present it with a job posting for a sales tax manager's position that I found last week. I do eveything on the posting long list except for one thing and that is only because we do not do that here. But I could do it if the treasurt dept required it. Now, that is only half of my job. So when you add all the income and personal property tax into it, there is absolutely no reason I should have a manager's title. I want my promotion dammit. That is the only way I will get my raise.
