no, i hate them both.  they make me insane.  a good alternative is Muconex.  it works.  but makes your sinuses dry.  but i'd really rather just have a cold than the side affects the medicines give you.  rubitussin and benedryll are ok though.  they just make you sleep so peacefully

ya, nyquill is the best for making you into anoher person with these distinct qualities:

zombie, split personality, can't sleep, but can't wake up, paranoid, sweats, sleepwalking, talking in tongues,

and then it all wears off in a mere 16 hrs.  if you take like 1/3 dose though, it can help you sleep with only minor inconveniences such as: sweating, still can't wake up in the morning.  wake up in the middle of the night and eat the whole kitchen and gallon of milk.....

once i took nyquill and woke up the next morning and there was ovaltine spilled all over the counter with fingerprints draggged through it and some made it into the milk jug, i'm suprised it wasn't tongue marks through the ovaltine.    ya.  good times. 

what exactly is ny quill supposed to do thats good?  i guess for a normal person that can lay on the couch and veg out while someone takes care of them, it might be good.  but for someone like me--on the go even when sick, i just can't do it, so then it releases bad chemicals in me.  i stay away from it.  my husband takes it when hes sick though, and wakes up in the am like a normal person feeling fine.......  i dunno

I don't understand all these companies taking the pseudophedrine out just because it puts their product behind the counter. That just means they're more concerned about marketing than how well their product actually works. CVS's version of Nyquil still has the pseudophedrine in it, so I now get that.

I swear by Nyquil(old version)! If I'm sick, I take Nyquil, sleep the rest of the day and night away, and wake up in the morning feeling much much better. Nyquil has 3 things in it that just seem to work so well together: pseudophedrine, an antihistamine, and alcohol. Dayquil doesn't have the anithistamine or the alcohol, and it's worthless to me, it does nothing.

I'm a big self medicator, I always try to treat myself before breaking down and going to the doctor. So I prefer medicines that only contain one active ingredient so I can mix and match depending on my condition. Do you know how hard it is to find a daytime cold medicine that does not have a cough supressant in it? If I'm not coughing, I don't want to take something that I don't need.

Once, in a gas station, I found plain old pseudophedrine. But it's near impossible to find one ingredient medicines at a drug store (OTC anyway). How did you get them, Ruby?

I'll take NyQuil if I'm bad off.  It works for me, but doesn't seem to affect me as much as some of you have described. I have a large tollerance for OTC cold medications.  Without the decongestant though, I can't see the point.  One could achieve the NyQuil effect with any Sudaphed-like decongestant, a couple Tylenol PMs, and a couple shots of whiskey or a hot toddy.  DayQuil is okay, but it's not my first choice.

Hey, I ran out of Advil cold and sinus and needed more. I had to take a card to the pharmacy counter to get the medicine. But it works, so inconvenient or not, I did it!
