Does anyone have a Christmas present that they are really looking forward to getting this year, (yeah I know I'm shallow, It's all about the gifts!!) anyway if you do and feel like sharing go ahead!
Fo me it's a DVD box set of every Wrestlemania from 1985 - 2005, I haven't told her yet but my girlfriend is going to be getting it me, well kind of she keeps asking me what I want so I'm going to say go halfs with me on the box set, the UK edition contains 31 discs!!!, approx 69 hrs, thats gonna take some watching!!!
The best price I have found it is at HMV for £129.99 which is about $225 I think!
I really don't have that "must have" gift. Clothes and a couple of games is about it for me. We recently bought a new car so that's good enough for me.
I really enjoy buying gifts for my family. I like to find something unique. My sister is getting a mouse pad with a picture of her husband dressed like a hula dancer. The guy makes an ugly woman so I'm sure she'll get a kick out of it.
Don't get me wrong Ray, I'm not all I want this and that, to be honest I wouldn't care if I got nothing for Christmas, I prefer buying gifts but the girlfriend keeps asking so I will have to let her get me something.
The mouse mat sounds cool, I got a mouse mat a couple of years back that my nephew had made it had his hand prints all over it in different coloured paint, that was a cool gift.
I know what you mean Ultimo. I would really like to have an HDTV 42" Plasma or LCD or DLP television. But I don't think anyone shopping for me is going to fork out that kind of cash. Plus I could put the money to paying off a couple of bills. If I stick to my plan I might be able to buy it for myself next Christmas.
This weekend my wife and I are going to the lake for a get-a-way weekend. This is when we do the majority of our Christmas shopping. Friday we spend all afternoon at an Outlet shopping center and Saturday we go to Nashville, Indiana. It's a little town that has a lot of little shops. It's fun to look around and walk around the town. It's always decorated and there are a lot of people doing the same as us. Sunday we may head back to town and hit the malls and big box stores to finish up. It's a nice mindless weekend. I always look forward to it. It's even better this year because we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow tomorrow. It will really feel like Christmas when were shopping this weekend. Plus the lake will be pretty with the snow. I'll bring my camera and share some pictures!
I've got some great winter lake pictures too, Ray! If I can find them, I will post them too.
This is one of those years that I made a Christmas list up because people made me, but I'm not really excited to be getting any of it. I am excited about the gift I'm getting my husband, an mp3 player, because he has no clue that he's getting it. Last weekend we were in a store and he was looking at cheap discmans, and I had to keep telling him, "You don't need one of those, I used to have one, I'm sure it's around the house somewhere!" His birthday is also this month, and I was planning to get him this toolbox that he said he really liked. Well then, when we had to make up Christmas lists, he started putting it down! So then I had to convince him why that wasn't an appropriate thing to ask for. I don't think he suspects anything though!
Aren't you the sly one Molly! My girls want iPods. I'm thinking about it. If we do get them we'll play if off like there is no way we can afford them. Which is true. But I like to buy for the girls. I guess we spoil them.
I'm getting him the Creative Labs Zen Nano. I found it for $90 with 512MB, and it comes with accessories that you have to pay extra for on the iPod. Considering he's not even expecting to get it and has never outright said he wanted it, I think he'll be very happy with it.
Last year, we moved into our house on the 17th, so that was my gift. I did not want my hubby to spend anymore money on me- and of course he did not! I wanted it to be about the kids and the house. It was a nice Christmas really! This year, I really do not want anything again? We'll see though, he is not getting off that easy!
Thats the thing, when you ladies say "I don't want anything" we all know your really just saying that to be polite and if you didn't get a present all hell will break loose!
I like getting a present from my husband around christmas becuase it shows he was thinking of me. I don't really care what it is, just that in all the christmas havoc, I was in there somewhere. From the rest of my family, I really don't care if they give me anything as long as I get to spend time with them.

Not all of us, Ultimo... I genuinely don't care if I get a present. For the last 4 years or so, all I have asked for from my hubby is a back massage. I get lots of nice gifts, but no back massage. He thinks I'm kidding, but I'm not. I have lots of things. This year, he's already started the Christmas onslaught. It's not even Christmas yet and he already made me open one present... a lovely topaz ring. He gave me that before a party we went to last weekend. While we were shopping for something for me to wear to the same party, he also bought me a strand of pearls. It's very nice, and I love it, but it's not necessary. I'd rather spend the money on the kids and grandkids.

There is truly nothing that I want this year. I don't. It has been a tough year, but I have everything I need. All I want is some quiet time with my family. OK, I would like 10 pounds to magically melt away without any diet or work.

I know everyone is not like that really, I was just joking but It can be true for some people, I guess in a way its me that feels the need to buy gifts really, when people tell me not to bother I still have to or I just feel guilty, cause I know for a fact they will buy me something.
The whole holiday has just gotten too materialistic for me. It seems ridiculous that the stores have Christmas stuff out way before Halloween. That's just crazy to me. I enjoy doing nice things for the special people in my life, and fortunately for me I am blessed with several special people. I guess maybe the older I get, the more I just wish things were more simple.

I agree. Last year we had friends over and I cooked a meal and we got everyone a $10 gift, and it was just great to hang out and have fun. But this year, money's a little tight, so I wouldn't be able to afford cooking a Christmas feast for everyone with the gifts that I'm obligated to buy.
